Title: GunBroker.com
Post by: nddons on November 19, 2020, 10:52:23 AM
Has anyone used this to purchase a new firearm?  I mean in the past, before your tragic boating accident where you lost all your guns.

I feel odd bidding on a firearm.

I've bid on a couple with them over the years, but never one anything.

Bought and sold on gunbroker. Only pain is making sure your FFL reaches out to seller or is good with you sending them their info. Pretty painless overall though. Prices on there so seem to be on the high side. I also bought on hibid.com. Lots of guns there.

I have used Gunbroker a lot to buy and sell.   Always have had a good experience.   All transactions go through an FFL.

I am, but I presume that’s used. I think I’d like factory new. I bought a used Garand once from a gun show that was shit. Looks like someone used a steel ramrod in the bore. I didn’t inspect it close enough when I bought it. My fault.

I've bid (and lost) from this auctioneer before. Most times they are new. I've given up on gunshows for the most part.

There is a huge difference between a used M1A and a Garand.  M1A will not have the throat and muzzle erosion that the Garand can have.

I bought a Garand from the CMP that I returned that could not hit paper at 25 yards.  Driving onto Camp Perry with a Garand is different than driving off of Camp Perry with one.

It was 2005 (post 9/11) and they were cooperative, but not happy about letting a civilian in with a firearm.

Why not?

Military post.  They were nice about it, but not happy.  CMP told me what to do and say.

Civilians (not contractors or regular visitors) get more scrutiny when going onto military/government instillations even when not armed.

It is not regular, but several come to mind..  Fort Hood, Air Force Academy, Fort Sam Houston, FEMA facility in Texas are a few examples.

I had a guy come apart at the seems when I had a pistol (unloaded) right after 9/11 at Love Field.

Aren't the CMP ranges on military property?

I’ve always wanted to to go to the national matches at Camp Perry.  I’ve shot in small bore target shooting leagues with my Anschutz Model 54. Would love to shoot large bore competitively.

Sort of boring to watch, but it amazes me all the crap they use when shooting. Back in the day they used to do a civilian M-16 shoot. You got morning instruction, then range time with a coach, usually a military team member. Forgot how many rounds we shot, but I did get to shoot there. They usually have a good vendor area.

Fort Hood was done by a Major and psychiatrist that was promoted instead of thrown out because he was Muslim.  I know you know all that, but it IS frustrating.
