I've already spent mine... I'm replacing my recliner.
(edit: my new recliner, like the old one, is made in the USA)

We've been ordering takeout several times a week in an effort to help keep neighborhood mom-n-pop restaurants in business. What part of the stimulus check I do get will likely go to increased patronage at these places.
-
New roof, driveway, sidewalk, patio pavers on porch to fix cracking and slope, removing about 12 trees, and then filling, grading and seeding yard. Stimulus check will cover the tree removal and pavers. Tax return will cover cement work. Good thing I got the family rate on tree removal and concrete/paver work. I need another check!

I’ve heard that it’s only going to people who made 75k or less in their 2018 filing with IRS.
Which would leave us out.

My bride and I are in the same place as you. We are trying to give as much of our business to locally owned business as is possible.

If you are married it’s $150,000 I think for the full $2400 and a prorated amount above that until something like $203,000.
Here, calculate it:

-
The IRS dumped $2400 into our Fidelity account. We had already retired last year so our income was low.
Doesn’t quite make up for the ~$60k drop (as of today) in our retirement accounts due to the drop in the stock market. Still, at its worse our net worth was down ~$150k. Lucky for us we had a large amount in cash in anticipation of buying a house and a bunch more in “more stable” corporate and government bond funds intended to cover ~3 years expenses.
Better news was scoring some TP at the grocery the other day. I will still install the bidet attachment I ordered last week in case TP shortage continued just to see how it works: https://www.brondell.com/freshspa-easy-bidet-attachment/ (https://www.brondell.com/freshspa-easy-bidet-attachment/) Expected on Friday.

No money as yet. Ten percent will go to the church. Haven't decided on the rest. We want to use it to help others. I've been going to PT for my shoulder. Thinking about gift cards for the three folks there.

Trying to figure out how to spend it locally. Probably buy some really nice cedar and expand the garden planting beds.
Not local, but I did buy a router upgrade, ours is slowing down. It's a great router, Nighthawk R7000, but since getting it, we've added multiple TVs, rokus, printers, computer, phones, tablets, etc...and from time to time, I think the traffic is too much. Plus it's supposed to help with bandwidth contention much better because our neighbors have done the same.

I also fill a growler or two a week at the neighborhood tap room, they're family owned by neighborhood folks. Good place, nice people, I want to help them survive.

I think I need to turn in my geek/nerd card. When I read "but I did buy a router upgrade, ours is slowing down", I was thinking huh? the motor must be wearing out. (router for woodworking)

Turns out I'll be getting a paper check. Apparently SS and IRS do not talk to each other, even though our SS money is direct deposited that doesn't mean squat for the stimulus money.
This morning I went to the IRS site to enter your info for direct deposit. Entered everything it asked for, no cigar, it didn't like something. Tried again, nope, third, hell no.

I’m getting the “status not available” message, which FAQ says means either we don’t qualify, which I’m pretty sure we do for a prorated amount based on 2018 AGI, or we are social security recipients (which we are not) or we haven’t filed a tax return, which we did in 2018 but not 2019 yet, but I thought you didn’t have to file the 2019 yet, or we are illegal aliens, which we are not. I dunno what the snafu is.

I've filed for 2019. We were due a refund. I had it used as a prepayment against 2020 estimated taxes. I have nothing withheld from our SS or pension payments so I make estimated payments during the year. I entered our 2019 numbers including the refund number, it didn't like it. I entered my 2018 numbers including what I owed, no bueno. I then reentered the 2019 number with a refund of $0 and it blew up with some message about Technical Difficulties. Gonna try again in a bit.

They say in the FAQ SS recipients won’t get the deposit through this app, that the SS administration will handle your payment separately, but you would think it could actually say that to you while you’re fooling around in there instead of just technical difficulties.

If you google it you will see a lot of people are getting this message, including me.
Basically it sounds like the site sucks.

Related, a guy I know on a motorcycle list, total blue democrat, posted that he's taking his stimulus check and sending it directly to the Biden campaign. The guy is dumb as a stump.

Thanks for the update. None of those bullet points apply to us, it is making me worry that maybe someone filed our 2019 taxes fraudulently and reported a higher income than we had in 2018 and they think we don’t qualify but I’m pretty sure we do.

That was what I thought at first too.
Maybe because I recently dug out my router to finish a project and when I pulled the trigger it made a high frequency squeal and started smoking. I hadn't used it in years so I probably won't replace it.

I thought that too! My husband does woodworking. But I’m the computer nerd in our house so go figure.

I use H&R so this might be why for me.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/04/16/coronavirus-cares-stimulus-check/
Several million people who filed their taxes via H&R Block, TurboTax and other popular services were unable to get their payments. Some parents reported they didn’t get the $500 promised for their dependent children.

Interesting. We use RSM McGladrey. I thought we had given the IRS our bank info for deposits of refunds to the IRS but what we probably did was give it to the accountant in the organizer and then after they did the taxes, and we owed rather than getting a refund, only gave the deduct part to the IRS, not the deposit part, which blows my mind that they can’t use that. I understand the other way around so you don’t overdraft, but to not allow deposits when you already gave the info for withdrawals makes absolutely no sense.

I had to pay in, in 2018. Did not file 2019 because I will have to pay in again.
I blame the web site. And just think these are the people that everyone wants to trust to let us vote electronically

I cannot fathom how anyone other than people who want to rig an election can want that. Way too easy to cheat.

There are many people that can't understand how technology can fail.
When developing tests for systems, some people simply can't devise ways to stress the system under test and make it fail.

I'm excellent at breaking systems. But I use my powers for good.
