Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez apparently believes the “electoral system” is unfair because she can’t receive her congressional salary until she’s actually sworn in as a member of Congress.
On Thursday, the 29-year-old socialist spoke with The New York Times about her election victory on Tuesday.
But rather than discuss her ideas for Congress, Ocasio-Cortez complained about not being able to afford an apartment in Washington, D.C.
Given that she will not be sworn in as a member of Congress until January, the Democratic socialist complained about not receiving her congressional salary for another three months.
“I have three months without a salary before I’m a member of Congress, so how do I get an apartment?” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Those little things are very real.”

But no, CNN will get out the word on her plight and a GoFundMe account will be set up for her and swell to, oh, let’s say $732,458. So she can get right to “work” for her constituents.

Working in Congress can be really tough for the Representatives. They have to maintain a residence in DC, one of the most expensive cities in America, and in their home districts as well. Salary is 174AMU's/annum, which sounds like a lot but isn't when you have to maintain two houses and get between them frequently. And I think they're primary job is fund raiser for their parties, thus they have to be on the phone every day. Sounds kinda miserable, to be honest.

Most Americans look at a job with regards to location, responsibilities and pay/benefits. Being a member of congress is no different.
On January 3rd she will be inaugurated sworn in, and on that day she will be assigned an office space for incoming representatives. I would suggest she cruise down to the local WalMart and get a sleeping bag and plan on camping out on her office couch till she can come up with the money for an apartment.

More to the point is why she was doing a glamour photo shoot at all. If it was a fashion shoot, does that mean she approves of the maker’s clothes?

There's actually many things about Ms. Ocasio-Cortez that don't add up.
But at least she'll be entertaining to watch. Can't wait for one of those speeches from the house floor.

Again, this is PURE GRANDSTANDING to make her seem like one of her constituents. I am sure there are many Democrat supporters, or other Democrat politicians that could, and would give her a place to live either temporarily, or permanently. It's just another way to make political points. This is ALL she knows how to do. Similar to Obama.

Several congressman just sleep in their provided offices. They are in a secure building with several nice amenities. Is it ideal? No. But if money is the issue and you want to save a few bucks?
How many of us here slept on a couch at one time or another?

Heard her talking on one of the late-nite idiot shows where the host was phony-coy coaxing her to announce her "next" election (AKA 2020). What a dope! She sound likes a freaking Valley Girl with the up-talk speech pattern and airhead platitudes. Of course neither the host nor the airhead let on that the min age to serve as President is 35, and she's 29.

I merely passed along the claim she made - doesn’t mean I believe it. I was curious about the clothing and searched her name and the clothes brand name and her explanation popped up among the results - I don’t know anything about women’s fashions and still don’t.
