I think China is much more complex, and as you know they are committed LIARS and CHEATS. However, I think eventually they will strike a better trade deal, but its going to take a lot more negotiating. Their tactic will be to threaten, cry, scream, accuse and give what they hope is enough ammunition where the American MEDIA and Democrats create enough Trump Hate so that we will cave first.
We keep hearing the Media and Dems call even the THREAT of tariffs and Trump's negotiating a "Tax on Americans" in an attempt to derail the negotiations. People are so short sighted, and so filled with Trump Derangement Syndrome they want the U.S. to FAIL.
Ho Chi Minh did it to us with Vietnam. The Chinese remember that.

Thank GOD we finally have a president with testicles. I live in south Texas. I’ve been warned not to go roaming the countryside alone because of illegals. Where do you think these people go once they evade border patrol?

I've spent a few years of my life living and working in Asia and dealing with the Chinese.
The Chinese have an odd view on business, and you can't apply western thinking to how they operate. In their culture, lying is fully acceptable in business if it furthers the business. It's just a business tactic. Also, contracts are for their side only to enforce what they want, the other side must submit to them. And they view contracts as documents in which they can change their terms (not yours) as they desire.
Another thing the Chinese live by is "saving face". In the end, if you bloody them up too bad and you walk away the clear winner, they have lost face and are disgraced. The way to conclude a business deal is to hammer out behind doors, then allow them to come out and have the appearance that they either won, or they graciously allowed the other side to get something out of the deal.
They also will steal your technology. Again, that's all in a days business to them. If you are dealing with highly sensitive technology, best go in with a way to protect it before negotiations. Once they have it, it's theirs. And guess what round eyes, you ain't gonna win in a Chinese court.
China has been slamming it to the USA for years, that's what has helped fuel their economy. Unfortunately we have just rolled over and let them because we had politicians that were cashing in on the deal to our demise. They have never had to deal with someone like Trump, who understands business and more importantly understands what makes economies work.
I can guarantee you whoever the dims run in 2020, the Chinese will go all out to help them get elected. Right now China is playing a waiting game hoping Trump gets replaced in 2020 and they can return to "business as usual".

This is correct, everything you said my husband had to deal with. He even came across literature marketing under some Chinese company a device my husband’s company patented, complete with drawings they didn’t even redraw but Xeroxed directly from my husband’s company’s manuals.

Rush, on the .38 Spl +P. No worries. That's what goes in any .357 revolver I own as I don't like the blast, and extremely loud noise of the .357, especially indoors! .38 is much more manageable as well, and I don't think the "Coyotes" you may encounter will ask if that's a .38 or .357 mag. :)
Unless you can get your hands on a Phased Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range, its all good.

I a self defense situation, I won't be having hearing protection. I'd like to not lose what little hearing I have left, and the .357 is louder I believe. Although it might not make that much difference.

Back in the '70s, while in college, some friends of mine and I went to a firing range. We wore hearing protection while using various types of firearms. But as we were leaving, having taken our hearing protection off, we saw another friend testing out his new 357 magnum. We stopped and we each fired off a few rounds. Then we went home.
I was exhausted and took a nap. When I woke up and stood up, I was so dizzy I almost fell down. Then I noticed a spot of blood on my pillow and looked in a mirror and saw a little blood coming from my ear. I didn't do anything about it, and everything seemed ok after a few hours.
But today, I am deaf as a post without the most powerful hearing aids available. I'm sure that incident wasn't the only contributor, but I am just as sure that it WAS a contributor.

But as we were leaving, having taken our hearing protection off, we saw another friend testing out his new 357 magnum. We stopped and we each fired off a few rounds. Then we went home.
I was exhausted and took a nap. When I woke up and stood up, I was so dizzy I almost fell down. Then I noticed a spot of blood on my pillow and looked in a mirror and saw a little blood coming from my ear. I didn't do anything about it, and everything seemed ok after a few hours.
But today, I am deaf as a post without the most powerful hearing aids available. I'm sure that incident wasn't the only contributor, but I am just as sure that it WAS a contributor.

Then I worked around machinery up to 14 hours a day with no hearing protection. Nobody used it then. And I attended several rock concerts. Once I took a decibel meter (Led Zeppelin if I recall) and it was 140 a good portion of the time. I don’t know why that’s not illegal. Both my parents went deaf so I’ve bad genes for it too.

I have a similar story having worked in sheet metal shops and diesel engine shops, and quite a few rock concerts in the '60s and '70s.

As I don't get cable anymore, I get to watch network news, which I rarely do, but occasionally turn it on for a laugh. I was not disappointed this morning. It was not the left wing bias that made me laugh, but the responses to Trump's dealing with Mexico from the Democrats, especially the Democrat candidates running for President. I couldn't find any quotes from the likes of Pete Buttigieg whom I saw once again making an ass out of himself this morning, criticizing Trump.
If just ONE of these candidates would say, "I applaud President Trump for negotiating with our trading partners like Mexico to get better terms for all Americans, and stop the flow of illegals to our border. We need comprehensive reform on immigration, and here is what I WOULD DO."
Yet, just petty criticism, and little school girl like comments from these so called leaders.
Democrats lashed out in all directions at President Trump after he won concessions from Mexico to try to stop the flow of illegal immigrants at the border.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi chided the president Saturday for his method, saying his threat of tariffs was unbecoming of a friendly country’s treatment of a neighbor.
But Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer took a different approach, saying — seemingly with as much sarcasm as can drip on Twitter — that since Mr. Trump has struck a deal, he can stop talking about illegal immigration.
“Now that that problem is solved, I’m sure we won’t be hearing any more about it in the future,” Mr. Schumer said.
Just days before Mr. Schumer had predicted Mr. Trump would cave and find a reason to revoke his tariff threat.
But the threat appears to have worked both to bring Mexico to the negotiating table and to win concessions that the Mexican government had been reluctant to agree to, including cooperating with the U.S. to hold Central American asylum-seekers while they are awaiting their cases in the U.S.
