For me the hypocrisy and Double Standard are a huge part of the problem.
Remember actress Roseanne Barr and how she was booted from her very own show because of controversial comments she made the VERY same day she made them? Why the long delay on booting this individual?
Again, it comes back to the double standard employed by folks on the left. They don’t want to get rid of one of their own because they feel they need as many left-wing voices out there as possible, so they’re willing to overlook violations of their own principles by fellow members of their little club.
And, truth be told, the Democratic Party has become a haven for hatred against Jews and the nation of Israel. Just look at folks like Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and others.
It’s time for the left, if they want to be taken seriously, to actually live by the principles they espouse.
A few weeks or so ago I saw the editor of the NYT say that since the Trump Russia narrative unexpectedly failed, that they would move to a new strategy of "Trump is Racist" now. So, why is it the job of the NYT to try to bring down a President, and make sure he is not re-elected? I thought they were a "news" organization?

The left and the Trump haters are completely lost from reality. In their fantasy world they are still a “news” organization. They believe anyone who supports Trump is a non-existent alien species and Trump winning the election happened because of an unexplainable warp in the fabric of the universe - an impossibility, therefore he couldn’t have legitimately won the election and isn’t legitimately President and therefore all of their “reporting” based on this premise is actually fact (in their mind).
Those of us who voted for Trump (deplorables, flyover country, rednecks, etc.) are normally invisible to them. We don’t matter, and until Trump, we were not thought of at all except in the most dismissive contemptuous way. After 8 years of Obama they had forgotten we ever had any power, so Trump’s win was a deep shock. It can’t possibly have actually happened so they live in denial and illusion, insisting their world view is still the only valid one, just like a fish thinks water is the only valid reality, but the fish is now flopping around in a gaseous atmosphere, thrashing in every random direction, in desperate attempt to force this wrong version of reality not to be real.
So you see, in their minds their version of reality is the only real world and hence they are an objective news organization because they believe their opinions aren’t opinions - they are truth. It’s their job to bring down a President because Trump being President is no more real to them than a Holodeck nightmare.

It is nothing new.
The left largely does not believe in an external moral code for behavior. What a person can do is largely driven by what one can get away with. Everything from the media lies to the Klan to BLM to Antifa has been based on this idea.
That a leftist would be a racist is in the line of "dog bites man" news.
