Title: Paul Ryan to Resign as Speaker in Next 30 - 60 Days?
Post by: Number7 on March 26, 2018, 05:20:28 PM
If he is walking away, isn't it curious how he built this stinking pig of a spending bill and then crawls out the back door.

Makes me wonder if he received multi-millions in bribes from special interests, knowing he wouldn't be around to deal with the damage.

He's been a Pelosi-Lite as Speaker.

Fuckin' swamp dweller.

Just a few minutes ago I got a spam email from his pac wanting donations to protect his fellow congress members from the democrats who want to spend and waste our tax dollars...

Really....

I don't think so, Paulie-girl.

Doesn't really matter, he will be gone in Jan anyway.

He’ll win his seat if he runs. He’s too popular in his district for challengers to touch him.

But he won't be Speaker when he is in the minority.

It's really early still, but best guess of analyzing vulnerable districts say that Dems pick up 22 seats.  I don't think they take the Senate, but it is possible.

If Ryan steps down it will be because he wants to.  Now let me say, I liked Ryan when he was talking, but as a Speaker he has been awful in terms of action, has literally had to be dragged kicking and screaming to do necessary and important things, and has fallen well short of making good on many campaign promises.

That said, Dem's always poll well for pick ups in the House, always, every other year, and yet, they don't always pick up seats in the House.

Wonder why that is..... why does reality not end up matching the polling?

It is almost like there might be some kind of political agenda driving the poll 'data', as if the pollsters and/or media are trying to make/shape rather than report on what people really want.  /sarc

As the general population enjoys the benefits of the tax cuts in particular it will be easy for Trump, and marginally the establishment Republicans, to point to the improved economic situation Joe and Jane Sixpack are enjoying and ask them if they want to go back to the ways of the last administration and the resulting economic malaise....easy sell.
