Gillum's response to the comment near the end of this video - https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/08/29/gillum_on_desantis_monkey_this_up_comment_taking_page_from_trump_campaign_handbook.html

Quick story - I recently attended a 2-day simulcast of the Global Leadership Summit, paid for by the owner of the company I work for. This is a Christian-based event wherein they have speakers talk on various leadership strategies, among other things. I am not historically a man of faith but if there is one thing I've learned, it's that I can learn something(s) from almost anyone or any thing.

One of the speakers was Strive Masiyawa (https://www.forbes.com/profile/strive-masiyiwa/#3cdda5f0547b), an African telecom entrepreneur, and one of the greatest African philanthropists of all time. My boss thought his talk a bit dry and slow. And it's not rousing, sure; the gentleman is soft-spoken. But he talked of his philanthropy with respect to young, disadvantaged youth in Africa. Which, by the way, he doesn't consider philanthropy. "Some call it philanthropy. I see it as an investment. It is an investment to invest in children, and in particular in their education. We are raising the people that will nourish us when we are old."

And one thing he remarked is that he tells these youth that they are NOT disadvantaged. We can certainly argue whether they are or they aren't. But I think it is about a mindset. If you're convinced you're sick you may fall sick. If you're taught that you're disadvantaged you fall behind before you begin. It's a mindset. Each of us has in our hearts an ability to fail or succeed on our own merits.

I think I have a point here. Let me try to get to it.

If I'm Mr. Gillum, I see opportunity in this exchange. I go on national TV, and I'm asked by a Fox reporter whether my opponent's comment was racist. Absolutely not, is my answer. In fact, I've used the common phrase myself. I'm not a disadvantage black person held back by a turn of phrase. I am a man and a public servant. Of equal stature to my opponent. I am a man who won this primary on the merits of my positions and the resonance of my cause, not on the color of my skin or a supposed ceiling erected by others. So with all due respect, I'd love to move on from my opponent's common phrase and tell you why I believe I'm the best candidate to serve the interests of my fellow Floridians...

The Dems will never allow a chance to play the race card to go by without whoring it out for weeks and weeks.

The Dems will never allow a chance to play the race card to go by without whoring it out for weeks and weeks.

For 2018 the race card is all they have.   No new ideas, no message.    The socialist running in Florida for the dem Governor has one of the worst track records as a mayor.  Tallahassee is crime ridden and the city finances are a mess, and as mayor he is under federal investigation.

His proposals would turn Florida into New Jersey or even worse, California, and bankrupt the state.  So the message is "Hi, I'm Gillum and I want to be your governor!"  "I want to raise your taxes to some of the highest in the nation, raise corporate tax rates to such a level that businesses and jobs leave, turn Florida into a sanctuary state and introduce single payer healthcare!"   But he is also relying on the "I hate President Trump" message as well.

Another key point, Gillum won the primary with barely over 30% of the vote.  It was a classic split vote scenario.  That does not bode well for the general election as it shows he only attracts the far left.

Yep, he'll attract the alt left progressives, but the center left will flee.   Rick DeSantis will be the next governor.

Be prepared for "racism" 24/7 in the Florida election.

Actually, for 2018 their main card is likely to be "Hate Trump".  They want to energize their base, so expect to see a lot of attempts to connect republican candidates to Trump's personality.

That may partly be true, but the demo-communist party will not be able to help themselves, they will whore out the race card night and day, pretending that everything from paying off your student loans to planting a flower garden is racist, but only if done by a republican.

The 2018 election is going to be nothing lies by the left until they get their asses handed tothem on election day and start rioting in democrat controlled cities.

I am sure I will be told I am a DEPLORABLE again.

Already a part of the alt left playbook for 2018.  Attack anyone who supports the President or has anything positive to say about him.

Also Harvey Weinstein, John Edwards, Gary Hart, Ted Kennedy.  The list is long, and goes way back, but you rarely hear the media talk about many of them.
