Title: Perhaps the Federal Government should intervene

Hope this video can be viewed.
It's an interview on the Roland Martin show where an exonerated death row inmate asked a question about Hillary Clinton's position on the death penalty.

Firstly I want to say that it looked like Hillary was going to choke on a cow as he was asking his question because she knew the question was pregnant with life experience and she probably thought he was going to ask about her and her husband's three strikes rule that put so many black men in jail under life sentences, usually under the pretenses of the War on Drugs.

Nevertheless I know the sentiment of this audience is that states retain authorities  over criminal proceedings. But the senator makes a valid point:  The states have proven themselves incapable of dispensing justice fairly and adequately and with so-called blindness.

Do you think the Feds have proven themselves more competent in that area?  Wasn't the "war on drugs" a Federal program?

And I thought Bill Clinton was "America's first Black President".
Just maybe more black men are in prison because they commit crimes at a higher rate.

Now, I'll think about watching the video.

Some wag on Facebook that if Trump wins, he'd be our first orange president!

The video won't load for me.

Prove it.

No fricking way I'd give the Feds more power.

Jaybird, giving more and more power to a central government has never worked well.  History is filled with disastrous regimes that inflicted horrendous harm on their populations, and the populations of other countries.  Our founders took that fact into account when they very intentionally limited the power of the Federal Government, and left the majority of power with the states.  Our system is not without flaws, but those flaws pale in comparison to what is possible when too much power is granted to a small number of people.    We have to look no further than J. Edgar Hoover, or even Eric Holder to see terrible abuses of power at the federal level of law enforcement.  The only way to avoid tyranny is to keep the power as close to the citizens as possible.

Although I disagreed with HIllary in the video regarding the distinction between the State and Federal rights or abilities, I don't think her answer was too far off the mark.

But I don't think the death penalty should be reserved to just "horrific, mass murderers".   I do think that the standard of evidence should be tightened for death penalty cases.  Circumstantial evidence doesn't cut it.  There must be irrefutable and undeniable evidence.

No.  Next question?

I disagree with her answer in that I'd rather the terrorists went to and stayed in prison.  Might be worth it to see someone like McVeigh years later talk about what a huge mistake it all was.  Might even give some degree of closure.  I don't believe in the death penalty at all.  Too easily misused.

I would think you gentlemen would like the fact that Clinton pretty much said it was a state issue.  Oh, that's right, the only thing you'd like Hillary Clinton to do is stop running for President, or barring that, die.

And once again we have the liberal bullshit about people only wanting <fill in name of liberal> to die.

Give it a rest.

Joe, I realized after I posted that I left too much room to misinterpret my stance on the death penalty. Until justice can be demonstrated fairly and equally without political considerations putting the innocent away or dead, I think it should be abolished. The Feds are no better than the States in this regard.

It is exceedingly odd that a member of the progressive far left, where killing is the first suggestion for anyone who steps off the plantation, that you project the bad behavior of so many in your own party onto conservatives with such gusto.
The Progressive movement is very little more than a cult of death when you examine what they embrace, yet so many progressive, just like you, constantly beat the drum of lies, tossing your own behavior onto your opponents.
