So for clarification, people aren't calling for execution of illegals except for crimes that already have the death penalty, right?

I probably misunderstood the post someone made "Execute a few....word will spread..."
I believe the comment about "execute a few . . ." was made with tongue in cheek.  At least, that is the reason I responded with "I'm good with that".  Of course, I would not execute anyone except for the most horrendous of crimes with only a huge burden of proof allowed.  "beyond a reasonable doubt" is not good enough.

Although I disagreed with HIllary in the video regarding the distinction between the State and Federal rights or abilities, I don't think her answer was too far off the mark.

But I don't think the death penalty should be reserved to just "horrific, mass murderers".   I do think that the standard of evidence should be tightened for death penalty cases.  Circumstantial evidence doesn't cut it.  There must be irrefutable and undeniable evidence.

Like I said, they went extinct for a reason.
Yeah.  An asteroid hit the earth.

Ah, were you one of the hippies spitting on the soldiers?   I actually saw this happen in Boston when I was about 7 or 8 and I remember it to this day and I remember thinking what type of asshole would do that.
I was about 25 when I saw it, and I thought the same thing you did.
I too protested the Vietnam war (after I supported it), but I respected the soldiers that answered their country's call.

Well said and I largely agree.  I will not seek, nor shall I accept the nomination.

'Gimp

They are two people I greatly admire.

I just think they are dead wrong about Trump.  And Cruz.

But I would still vote for 'Gimp for President if he would run.

Rubio's political career is done, unless he pulls out and helps to elect Cruz and gets a position with a Cruz administration.

He is leaving a Senate seat that is now going to a democrat - all for nothing. Thanks a lot. Idiot.
Just to be clear, are you calling me the idiot, or are you calling Cruz the idiot?

And why do you think his senate seat will go to a Democrat?  Our governor is a Repbulican.

Well, I support the protesters, as long as they protest legally.

I've been a protester myself, and the First Amendment enshrines that right.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
I could be wrong, but I think he meant the protesters that were inciting the violence.
Do you support that?

But I do agree with you that the right to protest is a valuable right, as long as it is done properly.

Interesting report:

Deporting these criminals is a waste of time, at least until we improve border security to keep them from coming back.

Hope this video can be viewed.
It's an interview on the Roland Martin show where an exonerated death row inmate asked a question about Hillary Clinton's position on the death penalty.

Firstly I want to say that it looked like Hillary was going to choke on a cow as he was asking his question because she knew the question was pregnant with life experience and she probably thought he was going to ask about her and her husband's three strikes rule that put so many black men in jail under life sentences, usually under the pretenses of the War on Drugs.

Nevertheless I know the sentiment of this audience is that states retain authorities  over criminal proceedings. But the senator makes a valid point:  The states have proven themselves incapable of dispensing justice fairly and adequately and with so-called blindness.
Do you think the Feds have proven themselves more competent in that area?  Wasn't the "war on drugs" a Federal program?

And I thought Bill Clinton was "America's first Black President".
Just maybe more black men are in prison because they commit crimes at a higher rate.

Now, I'll think about watching the video.

Where did I say someone here is supporting the protesters?   Some should read before they type.
I don't think the problem is just that people don't read, it is just that everyone is looking at each situation through blinders that only let them see what they want to see.

I don't think it is unreasonable for people (or politicians for that matter) to change their minds.  I was always a little embarrassed about that sound bite about Kerry (he was for it before he was against it), even though I disagreed with him both times.

And again I will say, I totally lose respect for people that say "in other words" then proceed to say something completely different, or take something out of context or make an invalid comparison or refuse to acknowledge differences in degree.

btw, I voted for Trump today.  Not because I am angry, but  because I can't stand Cruz.  He looks and acts like a weasel.  And because I don't feel Rubio or Kasich have a chance.  But I'd like to see either or both of them drop out to save their dignity and run again at the next opportunity (4 or 8 years, depending on what happens in November).

Spin Zone / Re: I'm Angry, So I'm Voting For Donald Trump
« on: March 14, 2016, 07:32:38 PM »
Seems to kind of sum it up. I'm so angry with the "establishment" that I'm voting for Trump no matter what. That seems to be what I'm hearing. It sounds like a lot of the Trump supporters are just planning to vote in protest, not that they necessarily think he would be the best president.
I'm going to hold my nose and vote for him because I think that of the current crop of potential candidates, he is the best of the lot.
I realize that is not saying much, but that's the way I see it.

Actually, I think Kasich or Rubio would be better, and I will vote for Rubio in the primary tomorrow., but I don't see either of them making it to the general regardless of how I vote in the primary.  If it came down to Hillary or Cruz, I'd probably pull the lever for Cruz, but it would be hard.  I might even vote for Bernie if it was him and Cruz.

Every day I lose more respect for Cruz.

similar to another thread.... substitute "hillary" for "trump" and we'd have the same  situation....
I see you beat me to it.

Please.  He's an embarrassment to our nation.  The fact that so many people are backing him is embarrassing.

As for "He speaks for us little people.", that's laughable.  He'd exploit anyone for a dime.  And crush anyone he could if they disagreed with him.
Since you said "he" I guess you are not talking about Hillary, but you could be talking about Obama

On second thought, I could see how you could confus Hillary for a he, if you consider her testosterone level.
