Agreed!!!

And totally illustrates the insane liberal thought processes that produce a Trump presidency.

I lived in CA for a few years.  The Bay Area.  The coastal, population centers are the problem.  There are many more conservative (sane) areas inland in up north.  Like everywhere else, they don't matter because the population centers control everything.  Sad and pitiful.

New York is the same way, plenty of good, conservative values folks away from the city, but there you go. The City. The face of the state of NY.

But it'll be even more awesome to live in that loony state in 2035... no more gas-powered cars.   weeeeeee.

Used gas car prices will go through the roof, enough so that some will no doubt make a good living importing used gas cars to Cali (if they don't close that loophole), thus driving up used car prices everywhere. And of course, once used car prices go up, manufacturers can up new car prices as well. So, as usual, the entire country pays a higher price for Californian "utopia."

Don Henley had it so damned right on Hotel California[1], "You call some place paradise, kiss it goodbye". Summarized California then, still prophetic today. Sad.

[1] Album, the song is "The Last Resort", closing track to the album IIRC.

Let's see. Zero emission laws for new cars will drive up the prices of used cars with IC engines.  This will mostly effect the poor and the minorities, therefore those selling their IC cars for a premium will be deemed racist and new laws will have to be enacted to make cars more affordable.  Of course, THOSE laws will also have their unintended consequences, which will have to be dealt with (ie, NEW laws). rinse, repeat.

Yeah, this decree is very regressive, hurting most the people democrats purport to champion. Yet these suckers keep voting blue.

Look at all the auto makers and what they are investing in Electric Vehicles.  All of them and it adds up to Trillions.  Those connected board members know that Governments worldwide are mandating this crap.  EV's right now SUCK.  Little range and a pain in the ass to refuel if away from home.  Unless we have a quantum leap in battery technology AND infrastructure, they are not viable.

I wonder if they'll allow plug-in hybrids.

Still has a a gasoline motor, so NO.  They are all about zero emissions except from generating plants out of state.  This is totally political, not environmental.

How the hell are they going to charge the new cars, which I assume will mostly be electric? They can't even keep the power on to homes as it is.

Now we need to tax our power grid more and only have electric cars.  And all new power plants need to be renewable/clean.  How can that go wrong.

Quote
Berkeley, California next year will implement a first-in-the-nation ban on junk food in supermarket checkout aisles, per a regulation passed this week by the city council.

The Healthy Checkout Ordinance seeks to "eliminate the encouragement of unplanned purchases of unhealthy foods and beverages" that proliferate at supermarket checkouts.

The ordinance, which will go into effect in January, directs "stores over 2,500 square feet in size to sell more nutritious food and beverage options in their checkout areas."

Under the rule, sodas will no longer be permitted in checkout retail displays; additionaly, only foods with "no more than 5 grams of added sugars" will be allowed.

No candy will be permitted, but "gums and mints" will be allowed, provided they contain no added sugar.

"Stores can still sell candy and soda, just not at your child's eye level in the checkout," City councilwoman Kate Harrison told media this week.

"It's not a ban, it's a nudge," she said.

Kalifornia is full on tyranny. That would really piss me off. I’m leaning toward pure carnivore, almost zero carbs but I do buy the Altoids extreme cinnamon candies at the checkout line because I can’t be bothered to find them in the candy aisle. I eat maybe 6 a week, six little candies not six tins. My diet goes way beyond their condescending “no added sugar” bullshit and I’m a grownup let me handle my own wee bit of carbs. Stuff like this makes me want to be an anarchist.

That’s fucking heinous. Where does it end? Guess the Covid window of totalitarian control must be closing. Reminds me of Obama on Your Shoulder.

This is awesome. I’m so glad Berkeley has resolved every other real problem and can now focus on minutiae like this.

I've stated before, the whole lockdown lunacy is a new chapter of the playbook, and they are looking at new ways to exploit their new toy.

More California insanity.

A new proposal could require Californians to work remotely three days a week - even after the COVID-19 pandemic - to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to aid in environmental efforts.

A number of Bay Area residents, including employees at large tech firms, were concerned over a new proposal approved by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission on Wednesday.

The controversial proposal would effectively ensure that sizable, office-based companies kept 60 per cent of their workers at home on any given workday to curb climate chang

This has to be illegal and unconstitutional.

The real question about all of this is: How stupid do you have to be to let the fucking fruits, flakes and nuts in california dictated your every breath this way?

The stupid must run very deep in those people.
