Spin Zone / This is getting a little scary
« on: February 16, 2020, 07:48:13 AM »
Not that I fear the Corona virus itself.  But look at how dependent both our and China's economy is on us buying all their shit, including medical supplies.  If this proceeds much further, we are going to find ourselves with massive shortages of EVERYTHING. It will take a lot of time to crank up our own manufacturing and production again, especially in light of China also being the source of raw materials. We might be headed for an economic and social disaster the likes of which we have not even imagined, for its sudden unexpected and total onset. China would be even more devastated. This is not looking good.

https://www.breitbart.com/asia/2020/02/13/coronavirus-outbreak-exposes-chinas-monopoly-on-u-s-drug-medical-supplies/

I won't quote from the whole article, you guys need to read the whole thing, including the bright side of Trump's "trade war" (getting us less dependent on China), but the dark side if this happens any time this year (Trump might not get re-elected).

The implications if China doesn't get this thing under control soon are terrifying.

On Thursday, a long-awaited report commissioned by the Dutch government on the future of the labour market has basically stated that the Netherlands’ 1.3 million self-employed need to be eliminated from the workforce.

Suppose Trump is able to successfully broker peace between Israel and "Palestine", including maybe even the creation of a Palestinian State.  Would the Democrats finally say he has done something good?

Spin Zone / Mike Bloomberg ads
« on: January 26, 2020, 08:50:19 AM »
My YouTube experience is taken over with Bloomberg ads which are nothing but liberal feel good promises. A couple weeks ago I was getting Trump ads. What sort of algorithm do they use to decide what ads to show me and why all of a sudden I’m getting Bloomberg? How can I turn this crap off?

Do you guys think he has a chance?

Spin Zone / TSA helps DEA steal old man’s life savings: $82K
« on: January 21, 2020, 04:07:01 PM »
This is what’s wrong with our War on Drugs. Government agencies have gone way beyond catching bad guys and now rely on taking innocent peoples’ money as a cash cow. Yet the actual drug problem is worse than ever.

https://reason.com/2020/01/16/family-sues-dea-and-tsa-after-elderly-mans-life-savings-were-seized-at-airport/

Quote
Terrence Rolin kept his life savings in a Tupperware container, but all that money now belongs to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), even though the 79-year-old retired railroad engineer hasn't been charged with a crime.

When Rolin's daughter, Rebecca Brown, tried to take her fathers' savings—$82,373 in cash—on an airplane, a DEA agent seized it simply because large amounts of cash are considered suspicious by the agency.

Quote
A 2017 report by the Justice Department Inspector General found that the DEA seized more than $4 billion in cash from people suspected of drug activity over the previous decade, but $3.2 billion of those seizures were never connected to any criminal charges.

When $3.2 billion of the $4 billion total seized were never connected to crime, it’s no longer an excusable tool to fight drugs, it’s now a corrupt system. I feel another letter to Trump coming on...

Is this what you are now?  Are you okay with Bernie Sanders not firing this guy?

Quote
On reaching people that he deems to be “fascists”: “The only thing that works, the only thing that fascists understand is violence. So, the only way you can confront them is with violence.”

On what happens if Trump is re-elected: “F***ing cities burn.”

On if Trump supporters should be “re-educated”: “I mean, we gotta try, so like, in Nazi Germany after the fall of the Nazi party there was a s**t ton of the populace that was f***ing Nazified. Germany had to spend billions of dollars re-educating their f***ing people to not be Nazis. Like, we’re probably going to have to do the same f***ing thing here. That’s kind of what Bernie’s whole f***ing like, ‘hey, free education for everybody!’ because we’re going to have to teach you to not be a f***ing Nazi.”

On Soviet gulags: “There’s a reason Joseph Stalin had gulags, right? And actually, gulags were a lot better than what the CIA has told us that they were. Like, people were actually paid a living wage in gulags, they had conjugal visits in gulags, gulags were actually meant for like re-education.”

On what will happen if Sanders does not win the Democratic nomination: “If Bernie doesn’t get the nomination or it goes to a second round at the DNC convention, f***ing Milwaukee will burn. It’ll start in Milwaukee and then when they f***ing, and when the police push back on that, other cities will just f***ing [explosion sound and gesture]. … Be ready to be in Milwaukee for the DNC convention. That’s all I’m gonna say. … We’re gonna make 1978 [1968] look like a f***ing girl scout f***ing cookout. Remember what happened when McGovern got f***ed in Chicago in 1978 [1968]? Riots. F***ing people getting beaten by the cops. The cops are gonna be the ones that are getting f***ing beaten in Milwaukee. They’re gonna call up the National Guard for that s**t. I promise you that. If Bernie doesn’t, if they f***ing take Bernie from us, then we have nothing else left to lose.”

On using violence against those who use offensive free speech: “Whatever it takes, and that’s why they’re like ‘oh, anti-fascists are violent,’ it’s because we’re willing to go about and beyond what the law says is acceptable, like oh free speech, yeah like they try to be like ‘oh you’re against free speech’ and no, we’re not against free speech, we’re against f***ing hate speech, and if your speech is something that like these people shouldn’t exist, then I don’t give a f*** if it’s free speech or not, you don’t need, like free speech has repercussions. … Yeah, there are consequences to your f***ing speech, right? And if your speech is calling for the elimination of people based on race, or gender, or religious like for whatever reason, things that people can’t change, then you should expect a f***ing violent reaction and you deserve a violent reaction because that’s just not an acceptable thing. It’s not acceptable.”

On wanting to “throw down”: “I’m ready to throw down now. I don’t want to wait and have to wait for f***ing DNC [against] the billionaire class. The f***ing media, pundits. Walk into that MSNBC studios, drag those motherf***ers out by their hair and light them on fire in the streets.”

On what will happen to those who oppose Sanders’ agenda: “Well, I’ll tell you what, in Cuba, what did they do to reactionaries? … Do you want to fight against the revolution? You’re gonna die for it motherf***er.”

Spin Zone / Linking accounts
« on: January 15, 2020, 12:16:42 PM »
Am I crazy?   I want to move money from Bank B into Bank A.  When I go online, to Bank A website, it says I can link to my Bank B account and then just transfer money easily without having to mail paper checks around or drive to a branch.

Sounds easy but I'm having trouble trusting my Bank B account numbers to Bank A.  On the other hand, if I go deposit a paper check, they see the account numbers anyway!  And it sure would be nice not to have to leave the house to transfer money.

I just feel really weird connecting accounts like that. Even worse, our financial advisor wants us to link all our accounts to their website so he can see our "total financial picture" to better advise us.  It's not a matter of not trusting the advisor, he's been with us for over 30 years, that's not the point.

In the past I never would have done this, but these days it seems the trend. It just feels really creepy to me. What do you guys think? Am I just getting too old to get with the program? Get off my lawn!

Governor Ralph Northam has presented a state wide gun ban that would disarm law abiding citizens, infringing on constitutional rights granted by the U.S Constitution 2nd Amendment as well as Virginia Constitution Article 1 section 13. This kind of proposition is unconstitutional and should not be allowed.

His plan for implementing and enforcing such a ban would be using local law enforcement and National Guard soldiers to gather guns. Doing so would also be taking privately owned weapons from the ones ordered to enforce the new law.

Law enforcement and the citizen soldiers have taken oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Governor Northam's proposition to ban privately owned and registered weapons would violate such an oath.

Lastly, banning weapons only effects the law abiding citizen, criminals will always find a way to obtain a weapon to use to commit a crime. Disarming would only cause more innocent lives to be taken by the hands of a heartless criminal.
