Title: What were they thinking?
Post by: Johnh on January 18, 2016, 06:43:40 AM
Back around the '60's, I remember reading about how automation was going to change the world.

With all the automation going on, people were going to have so much free time they would be able to pursue their favorite leisure activities.  By then, washing machines were old hat.  Dishwashers were starting to become common.  Factories were starting to become more automated.  computers were in the early stages.  Imaginations ran wild with other tasks that machines would perform for man.

Magazines had pictures of families having picnics in the park on weekdays because the father only had to work a few hours in the morning.  Pictures of artists at their canvass's exclaimed that people would have time to pursue the arts.  There were pictures of people traveling to exotic destinations on their many and long vacation days.

But what were they thinking?  Who was going to support all these people in their leisure activities if they weren't being productive because there was no work for them to perform?

The time has now come that machines are putting large numbers of people out of work.  Rather than free time, this has resulted in unemployment and poverty.  So the dreamers are again dreaming that the "government" will support them.  Free tuition, Free medical care, Free energy etc.  But again, what are they thinking?  Who do they think is going to pay for all this?

I've observed this for quite some time, particularly when some lib (prime example, Jimmy Cooper) complained about "sending jobs offshore.". No, in reality, the previously high-paid-turn-a-nut-union-job went to a Japanese built robot.

I can't help but wonder if this whole thing has been orchestrated. Anyone who was paying attention and could think past the next episode of 'Friends' could have foreseen this.

John, I watched the Democrat debate last night, and I think they've got that covered. I heard that any combination of "the rich," "the wealthy," "the Republicans," or "Wall Street" will be asked to "pay their fair share."  So no worries.

Yes, more lies about who will pay.  There isn't enough wealth in the top 10% to fund more government.  What they are promoting is more deficits, more debt and higher taxes for middle income earners.  In return we will get more cronie corruption, bigger government bureaucracy and control.  We will get more restrictions on the legal ownership of firearms, ammunition, and ultimately more tyranny.

O'Malley is an idiot.

It is SO EASY to see why liberals spend their entire lives attacking conservatives.
When you see the best of their best out there competing to become the next president, you see an old communist, who is one inch from an old folks rest home, and an old criminal, who wouldn't give a straight answer if her life depended on it.
We all remember the make believe you-tube that Hilary Clinton used to blame her criminal behavior over the Benghazi murders. That man is still in prison, and the beast is still lying her ass off and getting a pass from liberals too busy attacking conservatives to look at the disgusting ineptitude of their party, and their own bench.
