Spin Zone / Re: Tucker Carlson interviews Vladimir Putin
« on: February 10, 2024, 04:39:12 AM »
That is the empty set. The meaning that I use are:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/journalist
"journalist:
1 a: a person engaged in journalism
especially : a writer or editor for a news medium"

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/journalism

"journalism:
2 b: writing characterized by a direct presentation of facts or description of events without an attempt at interpretation"

Huge deflection.  Nice try.   ::)

Tucker Carlson sure got attention, which is what he desired.
He is a "journalist" in the same way Rachel Maddow is.

I wonder if Carlson will also request an interview Zelensky?

Comparing Tucker Carlson to  Maddow is like Comparing George Washington to Biden.

Gretzky has endorsed Kevin McCarthy for the job! WTF is that about? Tweaking McCarthy?

In an unsurprising move, Rep. Matt Gaetz, has once again taken aim at his favorite target: Kevin McCarthy.

Following the news that Ronna McDaniel is stepping down after South Carolina primary Gaetz announced his “full endorsement” of McCarthy for RNC Chair, citing the position’s complete lack of actual responsibilities as its most attractive feature.

“I fully endorse Kevin McCarthy for RNC Chair. Kevin is well organized and a very high-revenue fundraiser. He will also be well-liked by the RNC Committee. The RNC Chair doesn’t make any policy decisions, set any agenda, or negotiate against Democrats, ever. Kevin would be terrific,” stated Gaetz.

Spin Zone / Nikki Loses To NONE OF THE ABOVE in Nevada

This election primary season has got to out do all the past ones for hilarity and craziness.

Nikki came in a distant second in Nevada last night to NONE OF THE ABOVE. That has to leave a mark.

Isn't it a requirement to include the phrase, "You don't believe the science," also?
So you're a science denier?  MODERATORS!  I demand that this person be removed for saying things I don't agree with.

Bring back The Articles of Confederation.
So you're in favor of slavery???

I do not understand what you think is incorrect, so feel free to elaborate.

I have only looked into the J6 prisoners issue a bit. My impression of it is that in general the sentences have been over the top, the treatment of them rather outrageous, and not even vaguely approaching a speedy trial.

Some of them did commit violence against law enforcement but most did not and even the violence was not generally of a serious nature. Unfortunately in our society any physical resistance to an arrest is now considered a felony assault on the LEO. Personally I would consider it moral, though extremely ill-advised, for people to go and break them out of prison.

We do not yet live in a society where we need to fear the government taking violent action against us simply because of our expressed beliefs, at least not as average citizens.
The vast majority of those people are average citizens who felt the election was mishandled and fraudulent.

Not at all. But I do note that I have not read the complaint in the defamation case and I suspect you have not either.

Thus the real problem here is that neither of us knows the exact legal status of the statements that were alleged to be defamatory or how the various motions played out. I would suggest it is best to know these things before becoming too upset about the issue one way or the other.

Fair enough but I read the Truth Social post which I understand is the basis of the complaint. Am I wrong?

Lawfare is the use of legal systems and institutions to damage or delegitimize an opponent, or to deter an individual's usage of their legal rights. The term may refer to the use of legal systems and principles against an enemy, such as by damaging or delegitimizing them, wasting their time and money, or winning a public relations victory.

I would add using these systems in a differential way.  You only apply them to your enemies, while specifically allowing your insiders to get away with the same behaviors.

Let's see.....

She can't begin to recall the year let alone a date.
The dress she presented as evidence wasn't even made when she said it happened.

That's just two of the many things that don't ad up.

I don’t know what you mean by “tossed based upon her credibility”. The credibility of a witness is a matter for the jury at trial.

Witness credibility isn't solely for a jury to decide.

A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat. This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. He seemed more amused. When on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing, she complained to the driver and he had the man arrested.

The case came up in court. The Judge asked the man (about 20 years old) what he had to say for himself.

The man replied...

"Well your Honor, it was like this: When the lady got on the bus, I couldn't help but notice her condition. She sat under a sweets sign that said, "The Double Mint Twins are Coming" and I grinned.

Then she moved and sat under a sign that said "Logan's Liniment will reduce the swelling", and I had to smile.

Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that said "William's Big Stick Did the Trick", and I could hardly contain myself.

BUT, your Honor, when she moved for the fourth time and sat under the sign that said "Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this Accident"..

..I just lost it......."CASE DISMISSED!!"

Texas was once part of Mexico. Some of those kids probably have roots in Texas that predate all the gringos in the state.
And Siberians that came across the Bering land bridge 50,000 years ago predated everything.  So Russia should have a claim to North and South America?  Shoot.  Then Africans migrated through Asia and Russia and were here first.  We just brought them back to their land here.  But I think that the old law of "finders keepers" should hold in Texas.

The founding fathers never intended career politicians.  IMO that was one fatal flaw in not putting term limits in the constitution.  But at that point in time the intent was the states would control the majority of the government with the federal government taking a minor role.

At this point, it's too far gone.

The FF also did not intend on everyone voting.

I agree with the FF on this.  Voters need skin in the game.
