I might be a low information voter.
But at least I'm not a low understanding voter.

There is a difference between accidentally shooting someone and intentionally shooting someone.

Spin Zone / Re: Deaths flu vs covid
« on: January 14, 2023, 04:58:52 AM »

2)  The flu deaths being so low is attributed to masks and lockdowns but I call bullshit.  I think there were actually many more flu deaths, but these were counted as Covid deaths because of false positive Covid tests.  Why would masks and lockdowns stop flu but not stop covid?

Perhaps it wasn't the masks, rather the distancing that reduced the transmission of the flu.  A of people forget the implications of the "and" when employing methods simultaneously.  If you aren't physically close to someone, it's very hard to catch a cold from them, right?  doesn't matter if someone is correctly using a good mask or not...  Not being in proximity with other people reduces the opportunity to spread the cold and flu.

Another factor is the "reproductive number", written as R0 (r naught).  a measure of infection spread.  The higher the R0, the more infectious and the more the bug spreads.  R0 values less than 1 will burn out.  The CDC website had a page (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/planning-scenarios.html) that provided estimates of R0 specifically for planning purposes, with estimates ranging from 2.0 to 4.0 for covid.  Elsewhere I've found (I think on cdc.gov) that the flu has an R0 of around 1.1.  If I understand correctly, the most infection bug known to Man is the measles with an R0 of around 18 to 19.

With a low R0, it's easier for small improvements in intervention methods to get a lower effective R0, getting it below 1.  It's easier to get the flu's effective R0 below 1 than to get covid's effective R0 below 1.

Spin Zone / Re: Tulsi on the 2nd

I trusted her before.  I didn't always agree with her.  In fact, I strongly disagreed with her about several things, but I felt she was honest.

I compare that to our own Becky.  If I recall correctly, prior to 2016 she was staunchly anti-Trump!  But when Trump won and started keeping his promises, she "changed her mind".  People can do that and I honestly believe that Tulsi changed her mind as she learned more and more about the truth.

I just wish she would have gone further and switched to R instead of I, but at least, she is not a D.

Also, she is hot.

I did indeed change my mind. I’m grateful that enough other people saw what Donald Trump could do for America that they got him on the ballot. And yes, let’s hear specifics and see actions.

Also, I am hot.  ;D

This meme got me a sixteen hour restriction from posting and twenty-nine days from selling there.  They also dug back through all my old posting several months and found other things they didn't like. It would seem I'm now on their radar.

Matt Gaetz nominated Trump for Speaker.

And the clown show continues.

This is not a clown show.  It’s a few representatives doing what they’ve been elected to do.

When was the last time we saw the whole house debate anything?   The politburo scheme that the house has devolved into needs shaking up.

McCarthy is responsible.  He sat back awaiting his turn without any policy whatsoever.  Now his back is against the wall.  He has to decide on the will of the voters or his loyalty to the Uniparty.

According to this guy, he doesn’t link his source but he mentions it although I ain’t gonna waste time chasing it down, if you assume all the sudden deaths post vax were caused by the vax, the death rate is .002%.

By comparison the lowest fatality rate from the disease itself is .003% in children age 0 to 4, rising to .024 when you’re 30.

If these numbers are true (who the hell knows) then you’re better off taking the shot even in babies.  However, I would NOT take the shot or give it to my kids at this point in time because none of this data is trustworthy.  We have been lied to by “experts”, politicians and media so much, not to mention the problems with the data such as Covid deaths being overstated for financial gain, that the actual truth could be anything between the shot is way safer than the disease all the way to the shot is way more dangerous than the disease.

One thing I trust for certain: If you get the disease and survive, you have better immunity than you get from the shot.  But to get to that point maybe you must risk a higher chance of not surviving the disease.  Or you can take the shot, also risking death but a lower chance, but you get inferior immunity.

There are no completely right answers, only trade offs.  That’s how I approach this and it frustrates me that the world is fractured into two extreme camps.  It’s difficult to find objective coverage of the subject.

There is no question the vax DOES kill, but censoring this fact on social media only makes the “anti” side convinced it’s a huge coverup and kills far more than might actually be the case.  It’s also just as true the disease itself kills, but the true rate is so muddled by compromised data that the “pro” vaxxers can pull any bloated numbers to justify their position.

20 years ago a perfectly healthy 6 year old classmate of my daughter’s was walking with her mother in the mall when she suddenly dropped dead on the spot.  No prior condition and the cause of death was determined to be sudden heart failure for unknown reasons.  If that happened today and she had happened to have gotten the Covid vax at any time, some of you would be absolutely convinced the shot killed her.

Individual cases mean absolutely nothing. Only scientifically valid research on aggregate data will determine the truth.  Unfortunately it seems everyone involved is going to have confirmation bias one way or the other.

During the UK’s first push of vaccinations in 2021, vaccine side-effects were recorded by the Yellow Card system. This is equivalent to the VAERS system in the USA, the difference being that VAERS is open for anyone to add data to and the UK’s Yellow Card is limited to healthcare professionals.

According to a preliminary report dated October published by the UK’s Office of National Statistics (ONS), “the Yellow Card reporting scheme has reported that between 9 December 2020 and 8 September 2021 there were 1,645 deaths where the person died shortly after receiving one of the coronavirus vaccines.” There is, of course, no proven link between the vaccination and the subsequent death.

The report goes on to say that “the deaths registrations figures published by ONS show the official figures for when a death involved the COVID-19 vaccination, and when the vaccination was the underlying cause. This means it was recorded as such by a doctor or coroner.” And that where this was the case, “there were 9 deaths in the UK that involved the vaccine (meaning the vaccine contributed to the death), of which 5 had the vaccine as the underlying cause (meaning the vaccine initiated the chain of events directly leading to the death).”

That report consisted of data up to the end of August 2021.

So, the answer is, in the UK, less than 1,645 and that probably by quite a long way. Although probably more than 9 as the “deaths” data takes more time to feed through the system than the Yellow Card data. As around seventy million doses of vaccine had been given by August 2021, the fatality rate is between 0.002% and 0.00001%,

Spin Zone / Happy New Year
« on: December 31, 2022, 04:42:07 AM »
The communist left notwithstanding, maybe 2023 will be better as people are starting to realize something is wrong with the direction the scumbag left is leading America.

I am intentionally positive about the new year because the lunatic communist democrats have so radically overstepped in 2022. Something has to give.

Therefore, May 2023 takes us in a better, stronger, more successful, and freer direction, and may all freedom loving Americans experience a better life in the coming year.

If you are a communist pretending to be democrat, may you have the blinders ripped from your eyes and learn how to be honest with yourself about how you’ve let the sick freaks of the left manipulate you into stupidity, depravity, and intentional blind ignorance.

Musk stated that eventually he would appoint a CEO.  He’s trolling everyone.

The communist are stupid enough to think they “won” and threw out the evil Musk.  He still owns Twitter.   And he’ll appoint someone he can trust to be CEO.   So, nothing changes.

But right now the communist are taking victory laps.   So lame.

While it would be the courteous thing to do, and something I as an atheist have done as a matter of courtesy and respect for the beliefs of others (e.g. http://www.pilotspin.com/index.php?topic=4140.msg71478#msg71478), consider:

How often do you say Mazal Tov to a Jewish person on an occasion of a birth or wedding?
How many times have you said "Happy Rosh Hashanah" to such people? Last I checked that happens every year but the phrase has never been posted to this forum as a greeting. [Edit to add: A search for Happy Hanukkah does show it being used a couple times.]

Perhaps this is a case where recognition and courtesy for ones beliefs is being received in proportion to the recognition and courtesy being given to the beliefs of others?

For whatever reason, I follow the Jewish holidays and say just that. I respect other's religions unless they use it to promote violence and terrorism.

I've had several strangers say Merry Christmas to me recently.  Of course I said it back. This was outside of any church scenario.  Maybe it's changing.  I know, anecdotal.

A contractor at my Church (a Baptist church), was finished with her inspection and said "Happy Holidays" are she was leaving.  I, of course, responded gently with "Merry Christmas"

If you are in a Christian church, why would you not say "Merry Christmas"?
Perhaps she was referring to both Christmas and New Years.
