I appreciate being allowed on Pilot Spin as a right seater. I actually don't like to fly. But a beautiful day combined with the chance to see my daughter and son-in-law tipped the scales.
My avatar shows a rental plane, the first time I flew with my husband.
Here we are in Ellensburg, Washington with the 175.

Nice.
Any day in the air is better than the best day on the ground.

I never heard of the cessna 175 until your post. whats the deal with them? Bigger than a 172, smaller than a 182?
-
Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_175_Skylark) has it mostly right.
Some of them have been converted to other engines because people didn't know how to properly run the geared engine.
I think I read somewhere that the new, restart 172 is based on the 175 type certificate.

Cessna should have just thrown a Lyc O-360 in it for 180HP, like they did on later 172's.

Ours has the Lycoming O-360.

"The Cessna 175’s airframe is similar to that of the Cessna 172"

Seems to me that if you can find one with the 360, its a pretty sweet ride.

It was comfortingly steady sounding and smooth running. I am not a mechanical type but I can see where the term "sweet" might apply, if one enjoyed being airborne in a motorized metal box.
