That's uncalled for. This kid and even more so his opportunistic dad played a game on the school's security stance. He got called on it. Obama grabbed it as a cause celeb, exploited it, and it is not inconceivable that this $10 million lawsuit for hurt feelings was at a minimum cleared at the highest level.

No. POTUS isn't going to "orchestrate" anything. But since Obama laid his dick on the table and invited clock boy to brig his "clock" to the White House before learning the facts, he and his ego CANNOT be seen as making a mistake.
So, his staff talks to Loretta Lynch's staff who talks to whomever about greasing the skids to eliminate impediments for this "family" to sue the school district for $10 million taxpayer dollars. The lawsuit validates Obama's take on the issue (anti-Muslim white people finding Jihadist Muslims around every corner) despite the facts to the contrary. Mission accomplished.

In my mind anyhow, this whole story is just a high school prank that has blown up out of proportion and has unfortunately taken a life of it's own. I can sort of relate to this Ahmed kid.
This is a true story I swear. When I was a junior in high school I was a pretty anti social kid that hung out with other anti social kids. All that mattered to me back then was skateboarding, riding BMX and working on cars. I had a friend who was new to our school and recently moved from Toronto, Canada. He was a skateboard loving misfit too.
Anyhow, our school used to put on these "pep rallies" before a big football game. They used to make the whole school turn out to the football stadium and sit through a torturous performance by the cheerleaders and others. We used to to hate them, because that's what misfits do.
One day my Canadian friend, who was really impulsive, spontaneous and quick to do wacky things, says to me, "I want to build a bomb for the Pep Rally." He didn't mean a bomb that blew up and killed people, he wanted to build a smoke bomb. His older brother, who was about 20, had a recipe for a smoke bomb concoction that when ignited, would make a lot of smoke and smell really bad. I have no idea what was actually in it, but it was made entirely from stuff you could easily buy without any suspicion.
The only problem was, my friend lacked any mechanical, or engineering skills. He turned to me. I grew up in a machine shop and a family of engineers and he knew it. He wanted me to make him a timer/ignition system and he would brew the compound, assemble it and plant the bomb. I was smart enough to decline making it for him, however I thought it was a cool enough idea that I laid out the plans on how to build the detonation device and where to get the parts.
Weeks passed and I thought it was all talk and no action, but the day before the Pep Rally, he comes to me and says- "I built the bomb. I'm going to plant it tomorrow morning." I got super nervous as I knew I was involved, but there was no going back. His plan was to plant the bomb in the bleachers at like 5am so that no one would see him, but when he turned up at the football stadium, the grounds keeper was mowing the lawn.
He couldn't plant the bomb, because he might be seen by the grounds keeper. He couldn't go back home because his brother dropped him off. He panicked and ended up putting the bomb in his gym locker. All would have been well, except I guess he either built it crappy, or accidentally activated it. It ended up gong off in the gym locker.
It made a ton of smelly smoke just like his brother said it would and ended up setting the whole bank of lockers on fire. Of course the fire department showed up followed by the police. He and I were sweating bullets. Of course they questioned him and he lied and told them that a group of Mexican kids had been threatening him and hassling him and that he thought they must have planted it. They could never prove one way or another and nobody ever got in any trouble.
So back to today... my guess is this kid has been hassled about being Muslim, or Arab, or whatever for awhile and how he must be, or know terrorists. He likely thought it would be funny to scare people with a typical, Hollywood imagined suitcase bomb, so he actually went out and built this goofy thing.
When he got to school he showed it off and the whole thing blew out of proportion and he made up a story about how he was just "building a clock" and wanted to show his teacher. Sadly, the media got wind of it and it became a national story. At some point the family got a visit by an ambitious trial lawyer with dollar signs in his eyes and the rest is history.
Anyhow, that's what I think happened and I really sympathize with the Ahmed. I really suspect he wishes he never did what he did. He wasn't as lucky as me... or he's about to be the luckiest kid in school. Time will tell. Back in my day, very few people knew what a terrorist was. The story above happened in 1980.
