Title: Why I will not be supporting PoA in their fund raiser this year
Post by: PeterNSteinmetz on October 01, 2021, 05:34:48 PM
As I have noted before, the MC of the PoA forum has becoming increasingly non-objective in the rules they are applying. For example, the trolling rule as enforced by them is based on their assumed ability to mind-read the intention of posters.

Consequently I will not be providing any support to that forum this year.

I mentioned this on their fund raising thread and they actually deleted my post commenting on this. I will be very curious to see what their excuse is, other than the general rule they have that of course they can delete anything they want at any time for any reason.

They deleted a post that wasn't singing the praise of the MC?

I'm shocked.

I don’t see the loss.

They’ve embraced cancel culture.   Besides, the aviation discussions are nothing to write home about.

I was actually a bit surprised they would delete such a post. But I guess they are going more and more to cancel culture. I do tend to assume people are reachable by reason to a fault. And I guess I am ok with erring on that side of the equation.

There were in truth only sub-forums there I had much to do with. The mishaps forum which I found interesting. And the Medical forums, which I would try and contribute to.

Who do they fundraise for?

They try to raise money to cover their operating expenses.

I was one of the first to join POA, along with several others here.  All of us refugees from the old AOPA webboard, yellow then red, then gone, or at least no talk outside aviation which is where POA has gone.

As with many other aviation webboards, POA is now controlled by Far Left control freak Marxists.   Good riddance!

Yes, that is your error. Covid has proven beyond shadow of doubt that people are completely irrational.

They have an opt in political forum on The Pilots Place. It's the place the leftists hang out.

I had to leave that place last year over the idiocy in the hydroxychloroquine thread. Someone I like and respect a lot seemed to have lost his/her mind like all the other lemmings and that was just too much.

That’s a weak aviation forum. I tried it, no thanks.

But the looney leftist seem to like it.   A few from here hang out there ( last I checked).  I cancelled my account long ago.

The dipshit that started the forum was only interested in have a “last” thread, whatever that was.

Both Bruce and Ron have gone over to the Dark Side.  No thanks.  Can't stand that place.

I spent a lot of time on POA and the Spin Zone. That was despite assholes like Migaldi and that know-it-all who became a judge or something. It was spirited debate, but we were mostly grown ups and could take it. Then they started giving cover to the biggest bullies (all leftists) while giving me some time outs on occasion for saying the same thing others said.

I got tired of getting scolded like I was in grade school. When they closed it I was close to bugging out anyway.

Bruce was my AME for a couple Class III medicals back when I needed an SI after the big C. Nice guy in person, but really an a-hole on the AOPA forums.

I can explain Last. On the Purple Board there is a thread called last. It is really is a kind of chat thread. Several of us participate and we just share things going on in our lives. Brian used to participate on the PB and was a very prolific poster in Last. A few years ago he had a thread counting down to spring, I think. Someone else posted something or beat him one day and he got pissed off and left the board and went to the AOPA board.

He had tried earlier to start the Pilots Place and tried to get a bunch of us to go there. We went, but never stayed so he killed it.  When the AOPA decided to kill their forum he reactivated the Pilots Place and the rest is history. He is supreme Dictator there and if you opt in to the political and post something he doesn’t like, mit disappears.

Thanks for that explanation. I never spent much time on the purple board.
