Spin Zone / Good news for California shooters
« on: April 24, 2020, 01:55:38 PM »
Some here who are not Californians may not know that California recently enacted legislation requiring, among other things, background checks for purchases of ammunition.  Yesterday US District Court Judge Roger Benitez ruled that such checks are unconstitutional and granted the plaintiffs' request for an injunction stopping enforcement.

More info here:

https://crpa.org/news/litigation/crpa-wins-major-battle-in-lawsuit-challenging-prop-63s-ammunition-sales-restrictions/

A PDF of the actual ruling here:

https://michellawyers.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/2020-04-23-Order-Granting-MPI.pdf

The language of the decision makes it clear that Judge Benitez gets it.  Thankfully, there are still a few judges who know and believe in the US Constitution.

I have NO IDEA why much of it is crossed out???

The underlining begins where, in the quoted article, there exists a "".  Probably that's the signal to begin underlining.

Tim

Edit:  LOL!  Yep, thats the underlining signal, all right.

Edit2:  Not underlining--crossout.  Sheesh.

This is why you CANNOT turn society over to doctors, scientists, or educators.

But you can turn it over to engineers.  We're very, very practical.

<Much hideousness removed>

Okay, okay...you're a sport.  Please don't do that again.

It’s flipped judging from the fly.

Yes, it's flipped of course.  I kept looking for some writing or something to give it away--leave it to a woman to actually know and remember what side a fly opens on.  Good catch!

That smile on her face is probably from right after she shot the last guy that said that!

Or maybe she's just happy someone made a rifle for lefties.

You used to be able to get:

a free churchkey at any liquor store (the software here doesn't even like the word "churchkey")
a free yardstick at any hardware store
a free carpenter's pencil at any lumberyard
a free road map at any gas station

Okay, I admit it.  This is just a gratuitous post to try to build my post count.  "Junior member"?  Sheesh.  But at least I didn't mention the coronavirus.

I watched 12 O’clock High with my dad every week.

Now that you mention it, the "12 O'Clock High" movie with Gregory Peck was also very good.  Unexpected ending.

Whenever I get pulled over I just keep repeating "Am I being detained?" until I'm in handcuffs in the back of the police car, at which point I know I am.

This is like some sort of evil magic descending upon us.

I know all the conspiracy theories have rightfully been debunked, but if someone was actually trying to come up with a virus to cause a pandemic, he couldn't do much better than this.

They only think the police and military (Government) should have guns.  I wonder what they are thinking now?

"I have heard" (apocryphal story, probable bullshit follows) that some people in places like California who are lining up to buy guns (probably their first) for defense from the zombies are finding out to their dismay that they are NOT able to simply waltz into a gun store and walk out with a gun, as they've been told by the gun-grabbers for years.  I hope at least some of them will seek out a knowledgeable friend, or even an organized class, to get a little training with their new security tools.

Anyway, I like the idea of more people owning guns who don't think the things are just for hunting. If I hear one more politician say "Hey, I support the Second Amendment--I have a shotgun and shoot ducks..."

Spin Zone / Re: Is coronavirus going to end Trumps reelection.
« on: March 13, 2020, 02:20:17 PM »
God, the media/left hatchet job on Trump over the virus is just terrible. Like he can really do much to stop the spread of a disease without draconian measures.

That's one nice thing about being able to see an entire news conference, including the question/answer period.  You can see and hear with your own eyes and ears everything the president had to say.  I just finished watching the president's coronavirus presentation, immediately followed, of course, with the network talking heads telling us we just saw.  Their bias comes through loud and clear when you can see them spinning the news according to their agenda right on the spot.

The problem with Darwinism is people can breed before the consequences of their stupidity kick in.

Yes--it takes hundreds of thousands of years for anything significant to happen.  I suppose that's why humans invented revolutions.

Both are positives for a Trump re-election.

I hope you're right, and I further hope that in four more years a sizable part of the country realizes that Trump's policies really ARE working.  Booming economy, record low unemployment, reduced illegal immigration, etc., etc.   Because he loves to piss off snowflakes I know that Trump will never stop tweeting, but if he did (or maybe if he never started in the first place) I think that his presidency could well have turned into a major conservative national turnaround.  With luck, maybe it will anyway.

Tim (Will this frikkin' board EVER decide I'm not a "newbie"?)

Edit: Okay--now I'm a junior member--I feel much better.

I'm still making CARTRIDGES in the basement.  :)

I always feel so special when I understand an inside joke.
