I am beginning to see little value in trying to communicate here since it seems to be too great a chasm in the precise use of language.
The Left would NEVER exchange their agenda of confiscation by codifying national concealed carry, and they go apoplectic at the thought of armed teachers, they would prefer that LEOs went unarmed and require soldiers to be unarmed when on post unless in an MP role (hello Ft Hood massacre).
Again, a real world and glaring example is that the Right compromised on civil unions in good faith to address the seemingly level-headed request for 'some' kind of equality under the law for gay relationships, seeking a means for providing the same kind of social and legal benefits for committed same-sex partners that married couples enjoy - it was not enough, because equality under the law was not the objective, equality of outcome, AND more importantly equality of thought/acceptance was the issue, and now they use every lever of government to force acceptance and to deny the ability object on any grounds by shrieking discrimination and civil rights.
Just using the term 'fanatic' to describe someone like Stan or myself is problematic. Fanatic has a connotation of being associated with an extreme view and that is simply not the case.
Being committed to an ideal or the defense of a natural right in the face of government overreach is not fanatical or extreme, unless the Founders were 'extreme fanatics'.
There are no examples of good faith compromise from the Left because compromise is not in their DNA, it is not in their languaging and it is not in their playbook.
For example, compare the way the rank and file and the fringe for both sides view their respective parties.
The Left only sees victory or failure, and they only complain about failure. There is never any talk about compromise with respect to their ideals and their objectives, it is always a call for the Right to meet them 'in the middle' which they and their fellow-travellers in the media define as 'common ground' but which in practice is somewhere between Mao and Stalin.
The Right on the other hand complains most about compromise and weak commitment to conservative principles, not demanding victory. Why is McConnell so unpopular? Not because he takes too many hard stands - hell, we were all flabbergasted when he actually held his ground on the tax package and pushed Schumer into his disastrous shutdown over the Dreamers.
No, the actual record is clear with respect to who has actually compromised and who has actually taken advantage of it each time it has occurred.
