Spin Zone / More racism, in case you haven't had enough

One of the comments sums up my feelings well:

Quote
It's possible that BLM will end up creating more racists with this racial bullying than a thousand KKK meetings. How much of this nonsense will it take until subliminally these white students start thinking, "You know. I really do hate these people". (Imagine having your college experience destroyed by having to constantly walk on eggshells to avoid a day ruining racial tirade.). When they move into superior positions in the workplace where do you think Shaniqua and Deshawn's resumes are going to end up? They'll be very conflicted, but how many people can take a psychic beating on a regular basis without feeling that maybe it's time for some tribal solidarity of their own.

Spin Zone / Shadowbanning
« on: February 19, 2016, 04:24:56 PM »
So my stepson was telling me that Twitter was caught "shadowbanning" posts from people whose political views they did not share.  I guess this happens on other media as well.  There have been a few articles examining the possibility that Google could influence the election.

I guess this is because information has to pass through something to get from A to B, so the pass-through controls it.

I'm mad.

Spin Zone / Who Do You Know Who Should Be President?
« on: February 08, 2016, 12:05:13 PM »
We have a county commissioner who would do a great job.  He routed out several cases of county employee misuse of funds, straightened out some election issues, is a successful businessman, and when a Congressional seat opened up he had people offering him support if he would run, including my brother, who has super high standards for elected officials.

I worked alongside him in the 2012 presidential campaign, and through talking with him was even more impressed.

Spin Zone / Tactics
« on: February 02, 2016, 11:31:08 AM »
Are the American people tired of dirty election tactics?

If this is the greatest country on earth, and I think it is, wouldn't those wishing to TRULY LEAD it to greater greatness be more interested in laying out how they will do that, rather than destroying an opponent by laser focusing on the opponent's weaknesses, perceived or real?  In fact, apparently, all candidates LIE in their ads, and this is a LEGAL practice.

I loathe it.  What can we as Americans do to stop these ever-worsening tactics?

Spin Zone / No Trump. No. Go Away, Trump. Stand Down.
« on: February 01, 2016, 01:46:36 AM »

He is unelectable.

"Barack Obama reportedly won the 2012 election due to his campaign’s mastery of Big Data. Hillary Clinton and the DNC have access to that data. It cost a fortune to build and they will use it effectively.

The Democrats will make a series of short videos and post them to Facebook, Google, Twitter, You Tube and Instagram. The videos will be microtargeted to the right demographic. Big Data makes it easy to target voters. My view is that the mother lode is on immigration and that the MSM will attack Trump’s (or his subcontractors) use of illegal alien labor in the hotel, golf course, restaurant and construction industries. Social media will amplify this MSM attack. The MSM ignore social media and the use of Big Data because Facebook and Google are eating their lunch on ad dollars. That’s why you don’t read much about how the campaigns use it to win elections.

Trump’s coarse and at times outlandish language and behavior can only drive his unfavorable numbers even higher. Jean Kaufman, for example, has written about Trump and eminent domain here. Kelo is practically a litmus test for conservatives and Trump is on the other side.

Think about what the Dems did to that fine man who is Mitt Romney. When the Dems got finished with Mitt, many thought he was a heartless murderer. A false accusation, to be sure, but it worked. In my opinion, the anti-Trump social media videos will result in a landslide loss for the GOP.

The GOP must win this election. Trump is not electable. Vote for a candidate in the primaries who can win in November. You have a number of good candidates to select."

Spin Zone / GOP Debate January 28, and the Muslim Problem
« on: January 29, 2016, 11:00:38 AM »
Good summary here:

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2016/01/debate-post-mortem-who-won.php

I agree Rubio came off best.

At the end of this article is an interesting observation about the question from the Muslim YouTube gal, who turns out to be feeling the Bern.  Did anyone else notice her coyly looking at the camera at the end of her YouTube question, asking how the "toxic" environment for Muslims in the US would be eliminated?

Rational thought and clarity must cut through PC.  As someone else posted here, the peaceful majority is irrelevant, and has been throughout history.

The issue is not peaceful Muslims.  It's jihadist behavior by the few.  I'd like to know what that little gal's solution is for reducing the toxicity of the world's environment caused by Muslim jihadi scum.

Not a Jeb fan, but I though he handled that pretty well.  The peaceful majority IS irrelevant.  ISIS must be destroyed.  Muslims, step up to help.

Spin Zone / How do they sleep at night?

18 trillion in debt, soon to be 20.  Unfunded liability for social security and medicare, another 50 trillion or more depending on whose numbers you believe.

What am I missing?  How is this so okay that the government virtually ignores it?

Thank you.

Spin Zone / Melinda and Hillary
« on: January 04, 2016, 11:19:20 AM »
So the Forbes magazine is lying there with Melinda Gates' photo on the cover.  I read in the article that Melinda Gates and her husband Bill control a $41 billion philanthropic kitty.  They are focusing much of it on women and children around the world.  Ms. Gates tried to find someone to manage this effort, could not, and so decided, "It must be me."  She proceeded then to travel, speak, research and yes, manage, the effort.

I put down the magazine and once again see Melinda Gates' photo smiling back at me.  An intelligent, thoughtful, CAPABLE, generous woman of apparent integrity.  No scandals I know of.

Then I thought of Hillary.  And compared the two women.  Who benefits from all of Ms. Clinton's energy and efforts?  The Clintons.

Somehow this comparison has to emerge in the campaign.

Pilot Zone / U2
« on: November 18, 2015, 08:58:31 AM »
I thought Bridge of Spies was very well done.  It was interesting to see the beginnings of the U2 mission.  A pilot once told me he knew a U2 pilot who fell asleep at cruise.  When he woke up, the plane had gently landed itself in a field.

Spin Zone / NASA and the left

Somehow I got on the AOPA e-mail list.  This caught my eye today.

http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/science-and-technology/2-degrees-flies-planes-author-works-at-nasa-moshe-kai-cavalins-age-just-17

So we saw The Martian this weekend, and I have been thinking about NASA.  Are they doing monumental things these days?  Do we still have large groups of highly-skilled people actually cooperating to do monumental things?  Has PC infiltrated NASA so that technically unqualified people are hired, kind of like a certain percentage of ingredients in a processed food can be non-organic, but still labeled organic?
