Cadets are subject to UCMJ but this situation would not be punishable under UCMJ unless there was some other law or regulation violated, giving rise to an Art 90 charge, "Disobedience to an Order or Regulation." Or perhaps it could be stretched to Art 134, "Conduct Unbecoming an Officer and Gentleman" (Ooops, gotta update that language, for these are Gentlewomen). 134 has a lower standard of proof- purely subjective.

I vote for:  your reading.

If such conduct isn't prohibited by the UCMJ then it would seem to me that the cadets are free and clear.  But I'm no JAG.  (I doubt that "some other law or regulation" was violated.)  However, does the Academy have some specific code of conduct regarding political statements while in uniform?

The problem with comparing the Congress approval rating and the President approval rating is that people might be ok with their congresscritter and hate all the others.  A more useful measure would be the approval rating of a person's congresscritters (one rep and 2 senators).

One flaw with your problem is that you appear to be assuming that evolution is linear without any branches.

For example, A evolves into B evolves into C evolves into D.  But instead consider:  A evolves into B and C, and B evolves into D while C evolves into E.
