Remind them of 2015, when it was OK to say happy.
Happy or Not Happy is a question that has been asked before and there is no real answer. In 2015 the Democrat Party tweeted a picture of Obama eating an ice cream cone with “Happy Memorial Day”. It is a somber day and I generally do not use it as a greeting, but we should not try to be the thought police. On the other hand, I think people should be happy and I have little grief over it.
I believe any attempt right now to paint the President as uncaring because he wished people happiness is blatantly transparent partisanship and is way off the mark. It is probably more energizing to Republicans especially when Democrats are “guilty” of the same in the past.
