Outstanding. I wonder if Steingar wears a mask when he’s virtually teaching.

That is assuming he actually teaches anything except bullshit and condescension.

He probably wears his mask over his asshole, since that's where his brain is located.

Ahh, Number 7 up to the only thing he knows how to do, sling juvenile insults.  What goes "ha ha ha ha, aaaarrrggghhh, thunk"?  Number 7 laughing at Darth Vader.

No, that wasn't in any way original.

Anyhow, he who is Steingar wears a mask for face to face instruction as it is required by his employer.  Steingar does not wear a mask while teaching remotely except to show it off for students, since it was made by Mrs. Steingar and involved more creativity than Number 7 has ever used in his entire misbegotten intellectually stunted existence.  Steingar shows off any garment made by Mrs. Steingar, and even showed off the tortoises Rosie and Ruby while he was teaching from home.  The students really liked the tortoises.  Most people like the tortoises, they're really cool.

Steingar wears a mask when on the property of his employer as required by his employer (there has yet to be any viral transmission in any class conducted by Steingar's employer).  Steingar removes said mask after exiting the grounds of his employer, though as the temperature drops Steingar might keep the mask on for warmth.  Outside Steingar uses social distancing to keep away from other folks who may be infected with the virus.  Steingar wears a mask when going just about anywhere that involves going indoors.  Steingar does not wear a mask when flying his Mooney.  Steingar will not wear a mask should he have a passenger in said Mooney, but that isn't bloody likely until after Steingar has been vaccinated for the 'rona. Nonetheless Steingar considers masks utterly useless in the close confines of a GA airplane.  Steingar flew with one other person during the pandemic to retrieve the Mooney from annual.  Steingar then assumed he was infected and quarantined himself for two weeks.

Referring to yourself in the third person is a sign of mental instability.  Please seek help.

Quote
When we hear it happen, habitual illeism — the barely pronounceable word that describes the act of using the third person when talking about oneself — tends to signal to the rest of us one of a number of personality quirks in the speaker, none of them good: A stunted intellect (“Sloth loves Chunk”); the presence of psychotic personality disorders (“Smeagol hates nasty Hobbitses”); rampant egoism (“Doctor Doom shall be master of Earth!”); or a journalist using horribly awkward turns of phrase that belong in the print era (at least, that’s in the opinion of your present author).

People who speak of themselves in the third person are egotistical bores, terribly insecure and usually lying.

Or trying to be funny.

I'm not sure why it is, but for some reason, this site often makes me come to the defense of Steingar.

Agreed - using the third person for oneself is considered a good academic style of writing, and I’ve seen it used to establish a mood by entertainment writers:

Quote
When writing a personal narrative -- a story about an event that happened to you -- you can write in third person by using your first name or inventing a name rather than using first-person pronouns like I, me, we and us.

Although most instructors allow students to use first person in such essays, the use of a name like Charles -- which is a third-person usage -- lets you present your story without using first person; write as if someone else experienced the situation. This replacement also works when you want to use a personal experience within a research or other formal essay as an introductory hook or for support.

He's often the lone Marxist voice, so seen by you as the "underdog".  However if he were honest, not occasionally caustic and capable of real discussion, I'd be right with you.

I like when he (and everyone) sticks to talking about facts or at least your opinion of facts, but when everyone resorts to personal insults I just tune it out.

I am guilty of it on occasion, but try not to as I totally agree with you.  Plus we're all pilots, aircraft owners and/or GA enthusiasts here so have much more in common than most others.

I'm re-reading Lord of the Rings to try to forget the screens and all the noise for a while.  It comes to mind that Steingar is much like Gollum.  He's annoying and dangerous at times, but good to keep around as he does have an important role to play in our little universe here.  He hangs onto the Left's doctrine like his Precious, always in pursuit, always defending, clutching, holding, afraid to live without it.  But through that we all learn more about his Precious, how dangerous it is, and how important it is that it is destroyed.  I think that Pilot Spin would be a poorer place without our Gollum.

Plus he is right about some things but I’m libertarian not conservative so there’s that. Also I hate when this place becomes monotone echo chamber no differing opinions.

well, we can't force people to stick around and defend their positions/beliefs/opinions.

But shouldn't we?  I mean, after all, we are doing it for their own good.

No.  They leave because they can't defend their positions and quite frankly there's been some hostility to them in the past.  I am one of the guilty ones of that, so I can't really talk.  It can be a tough room sometimes.

I have little patience for people who regularly and publicly consider themselves to be intellectually superior to me or anyone else.

So for me it’s not about honest political or other differences, it’s about attitude.

sort of like:  the people who think they know it all are really annoying to those of us who do.

Cute, but no. I deal with a lot of people who I believe have superior intellect to me.

One is a client who never went to college but is essentially a self-taught engineer. The things he manufactures and how he thinks through problems is something to see.

Another is an attorney who can recall pertinent case law like a treatise, and can synthesize a case like no other.

There are many more like that, but what they ALL have in common is they don’t think they have that high of an intellect, so it would never occur to them to say that they do. They all also treat the local diner waitress with ultimate respect. Those are the kind of people that I like to hang with.

YES!  It's those who are quietly excellent.  Who are generous with their knowledge and their training.  Who don't mind stupid questions and give answers that are helpful.  Those who are happy to pass on their knowledge with endless patience, who are willing to let you make mistakes so you learn, but then show you the best way to do things even if it's not exactly by the book.  It's the quiet ones.

Those who think they know more than you do and make sure that you KNOW that they know more than you do, insult you for not knowing something, and are generally assholes.  Those people I have no desire to associate with.
