Hollywood heavyweight Harrison Ford has told the ABC he hopes world leaders can "finally do something" about climate change as he launched a broadside at squabbling world powers.
During an interview with 7.30, Ford said the consequences of inaction were dire.
"Nature will take care of itself — nature doesn't need people, people need nature to survive," Ford told presenter Leigh Sales.
"The planet will be OK, there just won't be any damn people on it."
So, while you are buring Jet A, and 100LL flying private jets, helos, and piston aircraft around, I guess you just want to limit us, because you certainly aren't limiting yourself. And if there are more, new expensive regulations, and taxes passed on fossil fuels you can certainly afford to pay it, so I guess it doesn't matter to you Mr. Ford.

I walk the walk. Yeah, I fly an airplane, but mine gets better mileage than a lot of cars. I walk to work, and on those rare occasions when I actually drive I either use a very efficient vehicle or a motorcycle.
I don't think big time celebrities can do what I do. I know for a fact that Gore does what he can to offset his rather large CO2 footprint. It is very possible Ford does as well. But I am not in big hurry to jump down their throats. Celebrity gives one limitations.
As far as deniers, we have sixty degree weather on Christmas in Ohio. Nothing normal about that.

The record low Christmas for Chicago was in 1983: -17 degrees.
I remember the latter because I was married one month earlier. I had to remove the batteries from my wife's and my cars and bring them in the apartment so the car would start the next day.
Nothing normal about an 81 degree swing between two years.

Don't be a dumb ass. What do you think would happen to Harrison Ford if he walked up to the Southwest counter and bought a ticket to ride? Seriously think it through. Any of the actors in the original Star Wars have been stalked ever since that movie was released and they will be until they die. In the case of Harrison Ford, he also has several other high profile characters he has played to contend with.
Kooks aside, he would be swamped with autograph requests and picture takers to the point that I doubt the plane could even get out of the gate on time. The entire flight he would be harassed. It would likely be the worst day of his life considering he is a reclusive type.

I think it is cool that he flies. I think it is really stupid he complains about man made climate change and wants us "to do something about it" meaning some type of additional government tax, fees, surcharges, and bureaucracy. If he wants it so much he can pay a voluntary CARBON TAX per hour he files. He can afford it. It should be based on income, right? Say $10K an hour for Mr. Ford. No, he can afford more. Maybe $50K an hour? I mean it's only "fair".

For a bunch of guys that claim to not be classist, you sure seem quick to bust the chops of Harrison Ford. The same guys that go on about the "cult", or "religion" of MMGW, yet when someone comes out and says- "Yes, I believe that MMGW is a real problem facing the world in the 21st Century." but does not treat this belief like a religion and immediately swears of his carbon consumption like a devout Muslim might swear off alcohol, he is then labeled a "hypocrite".
Harrison Ford is doing exactly what you would want him to do. He's not freaking out and quitting his love for flying. He is not saying the sky is falling and the world is coming to an end. He is saying there is a problem and we need to work on it. He is saying that the solutions to these problems does not mean we have to become religious, stop what we are doing and denounce our sinful pasts.
The fact that he believes that MMGW is a real and present danger is totally understandable. 90+% of the world's scientists and particularly climatologists do too. The majority of the literate world also believe this. He is basically in the majority.
I like Harrison Ford. I love that he continues to aviate and that he loves it so. I have no problem with his belief that MMGW is a real problem that needs to be addressed, I do too. I give him props for not being Hysterical Ford and demanding everyone change their ways and that he continues with his way of life.
I have no problems with the man.
