I thought this comment was brilliant. Some guy calls himself Ken Wittlief responding to a person who said we must explore space at all costs because without going to other planets humanity won’t survive.
there is only one life form on Earth: DNA life. It is billions of years old and encompasses the entire planet. DNA life here would not exist without the sun and the moon and the Earth. Our life is a product of the physical world in which we exist. Humans cannot exist on the moon or Mars, it would be necessary to take ALL DNA life with us and re-create the physical nature of our planet and its source of energy (the proximity to the sun).
Its not going to happen in our solar system. We are not going to transport the DNA life of Earth to a planet orbiting another star. There is no reason to think DNA life on Earth will end for another billion years.
And if life on Earth ends, there are countless other worlds in which life will continue throughout the Universe. Life is the physical Universe creating its own ability to modify itself and to become self aware. It is spread across the Universe like DNA life is spread across the Earth.
When your life ends DNA life on Earth will continue. When DNA life ends on Earth it will continue across the Universe. There is no need to flee from our home world in a false sense of panic or importance. Life will continue without us.
I agree with Ken here, although I believe we must explore space just for the reason to station weapons or defenses out there before the Chicoms or Ruskies do. And, just because it’s fun.

I've said it a few times, I don't have the proper words to explain my belief that we, as a species, need to explore, or die. It's not about the Chinese or Russians or anyone else. It's about the discovery and exploration.
I think flying is something similar. A lot of pilots use flying for transportation, nothing more. At least some of us fly just for the pure pleasure of flying - it's the journey that is important, not the destination. Some have similar feeling about riding motorcycles.

Adventure and CALCULATED Risk taking are being bred out of society with the unattainable 100% Safety being the ultimate goal. That's why we've replaced real activity with Video Games for Boys and Young Men. It is also why so many Lemmings go along with the lock downs and Masks, etc.

I couldn't agree more! The sheep are being brainwashed into thinking 100% safe is the goal. That's why Foochi couldn't say when we'll be safe enough to open up. It will NEVER be safe enough. Lockdowns for ever because the virus is out there. Be very afraid. We have to have 0% (not just an approximation of zero, but true zero) new cases. But even then some new mutation might show up so we have to stay locked down.

I read that as a thesis that because life is just DNA organizing under the right conditions, those conditions must exist elsewhere and therefore life exists. Our planet is one speck in an infinite universe and it is inconceivable that life only exists here.

That’s how I read it. The universe, as far as we can tell, consists of the same periodic table of elements everywhere. These same elements tend to combine in chemical reactions in certain predictable ways. DNA is basically just combinations of hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and phosphorus. That’s it. That stuff is all over the place. Squash it all together under the right conditions it’s almost inevitable they combine and become life. Not to understate the complexity, we haven’t been able to duplicate it in the lab but over billions of years the universe brings it about. We know it does because we are here.
And if you believe God is necessary to bring it about, nothing in what I said contradicts the presence of God. Maybe that’s where the elements came from in the first place.
