Foreign nationals have always served in the US military. I served with Filipinos, Australian and Dominican as well as others.
I don't see any problems.

Cool video. The soloist you referred to who is from Germany was from Ansbach, Germany, where the U.S. has a base:

It's more likely that he's American and had parents stationed there.
As for foreign nationals serving in the military, it doesn't bother me. They take the same oath as everyone else does and are expected to maintain the same standards. As long as they can do that then they are welcome. Most join because they truly believe in America and also use it as a way to help gain their citizenship. It's not like the French Foreign Legion.
-
I have no problem with foreign nationals serving in the US military. I do have a problem with guys like Nidal Hasan "serving."
-
Not only do foreign nationals serve in the US military, those males between 18-26 who are residents are required to register for Selective Service.

I think that any foreign national that wants to become a citizen should be required to serve at least 4 years in our military.

Service in the military is actually a fantastic shortcut to naturalization...
It's the easiest way to get a Green Card to start, and as soon as you deploy to a combat theater, you can naturalize immediately. It's actually the only way to become a US Citizen on other than US soil.

I have no problem with that.

well, technically, there is at least one other way. (left as an exercise for the student)

Become, not be born, a US Citizen.

hence the "technically"... I'd argue that being born is becoming.
-
I served with them. I have no problem with that. Most of them wanted to make a better lives for themselves, and were willing to work/sacrifice to get it.

The OP asked an emotional question. Most of the responses are thought answers.

ok, then, I feel GREAT about it. However, note that I expect all members of the Armed Services to comply with the UCMJ

Thats because most of us are conservatives. We deal with issues by thinking logically about them.
Liberals deal with issues based on their "feelings".
Which approach is better? I dunno. Maybe a little of both.

Humans are emotional beings. Women more so than men. However, dealing with important issues with emotion gets us feel good surface satisfaction. When you dig deeper beyond the feel good stuff then things get a bit more complex, and the logical among us realize it is a rabbit hole. However, helping people is a good thing, and getting them to help themselves is even better.

I don't accept at face value that women are more emotional. We as men are socialized to ignore and suppress our emotions. And while we appear to succeed at it, it's more like a spring with stored energy; you can't beat the system.

Do you believe that there are any cognitive differences between men and women?
Have you ever read about the differences in brain scans between men and women when presented with a problem to solve? Brain functions are radically different.

Yes. I heard a clever thing from a woman I used to know: "Men and Women are equally different."

Yet you think they are emotionally identical. Or is that just a PC thing to say?

Never said identical.

Hey, it worked for Rome. By the time their civilization was falling apart there were a ton of foreigners in their armies. Didn't do them any harm...
-
I guess there is a downside to having a foreign national in our military. This one may lead to his execution on espionage.

He was a naturalized US Citizen.
One cannot become a commissioned officer in the US military as a non-citizen to my knowledge.

Many of those will get kicked due to duplication. I also see one that will get kicked due to improper chain of command orders (spec 3). Seems like this is someone with an axe to grind. Will have to wait until Trial to say more, too ambiguous to call it espionage. The charge sheet (I only read 1-1/2 pages) seems more like laziness due to routine handling of classified material, which happens more often than people like to admit. I'm certain the command will be called to the carpet on this- unless he is the unit CO, then this IS on him. Otherwise, I'd say he looks like a good fall guy.

Foreign nationals in our military are irrelevant when compared to the other issues that are going on which, if not changed, will result in the collapse of the Republic within the next 30 years. In that case, the military will become almost completely irrelevant.

When Hillary gets elected the decline will continue and when she gets the SCOTUS justices appointed it will actually accelerate.

How do you know it will take 30 years? What about 35? Or maybe 50? Or not in our lifetime?
