And by racism I mean white racism against others, mostly blacks. Yes. It still exists.
It isn't nearly as rampant and accepted as it was when I was a kid, but it still exists.
It is rejected, at least outwardly in almost every segment of society.
Blacks have more opportunity than ever before. In (arguably) rare cases, blacks even receive more opportunity. But denying that racism does still exist does nothing to fix the racial problems we still have.
On the other hand, rioting, looting, burning and hating doesn't fix the problem either. As the meme said, that conduct does not help dispel the stereotypes they claim are false.
I like what they are doing in the Daytona Beach George Floyd demonstrations. White people, INCLUDING WHITE POLICE, are joining the demonstrations and holding signs. My favorite was the one that said "it isn't black against white, it is US against Racists". There are gathering points to start and routes for the march. And a site for the final "closing ceremony". But the police also have a rather strong enforcement presence. There is little chance for this to turn into a violent riot. (I hope).
The police chief has denounced the killing of George Floyd and announced that racism should not be acceptable and covered up and at the same time he denounced the violent protests. We will see how it goes, but it does give me hope.
But then I turn on the MSM news or read an MSM paper or website, and I get all riled up and hateful again.
