Title: The Left's Positions Supported - Illegal Aliens
Post by: Becky (My pronouns are Assigned/By/God) on July 27, 2016, 06:33:43 PM
I don't believe that is true. The Left's positions can usually be supported, it is a matter of what principle values are used. To make a blanket statement that only one side's arguments make sense is exactly why you don't understand. You aren't trying or you don't respect some else's right to be different.

Now - I do not consider myself on the left, but let's try an exercise - give me a topic and I will explain the Left's position as best I can.

Start a new thread.

Each position will probably need its own thread.

I believe President Obama's actions are insupportable; he essentially stopped supporting the United States of America's immigration laws.  The Left seems to be glorifying illegal aliens (re:  their convention in Philly).  Over the last year or so, it has become obvious to me through talking with health care providers that illegal aliens are receiving an astounding amount of federal dollars, with more set to come over the next few years via ACA.  It is a common perception on the right that the Left hopes these people will become citizens and vote, or vote illegally, as apparently does happen, and so maintain the Left's grip on power.

Well, the intent was not to defend the action of a single person.  I'm presuming you're talking about not deporting children.  Here's how I understand the thought process and tell me what you disagree with.  Hang one, this could be a little disconcerting

The United States is a land of equality and opportunity.  It is the place in the world where people can lift themselves up.  We're not always perfect at that, but we try to be.  As citizens of the world, we cannot keep everyone else out - generosity, not greed is the American way.

With children of illegal aliens who were brought across the border when they were young, they have no fault here.  They have only ever lived in America and some of them only speak English.  Their roots are here, their friends are here.  To deport them would be a travesty because they would be unable to function in whatever country you would send them to.

Equality
Fairness
Generosity
Compassion

You don't disagree with these principles.
