Title: New Forum Software?
Post by: LevelWing on April 01, 2016, 07:55:05 PM
Based on this (http://www.pilotspin.com/index.php?topic=633.0) thread, the topic was brought up about possibly switching forum software to a paid one. I've been in contact with PilotSpin and offered to provide the software. If the forum were to upgrade to a new forum software, which platform would you like to see?

I like it as is and the price is right.  However, I am also on another forum using freeforums.org and it works well, and is also free.

free is good.

free is good.
But is the paid software better?  In the thread on US manufacturing, several people said they would prefer to pay more for higher quality.  Is that just bravado and bs?
Besides, I believe Levelwing offered to pay for it for us freeloaders, so it would be free for us.

But I didn't answer the poll because I really have no knowledge of the differences in the sw packages.  But I would be willing to chip in if we decided to buy something that would make it better, and easier to manage.

A big fat Thanks to Levelwing and Pilotspin admin!

But is the paid software better?

I don't have enough information to make that assessment.

In my case, I walk the walk.  I have indeed paid more for higher quality.  Regularly.

I'm not going to try to judge others.

A big fat Thanks to Levelwing and Pilotspin admin!

+1

Replying to my own post here
I THINK I read into Level Wing's post an offer to pay for the software, but if the forum wanted to buy a product, I would be willing to chip in.

You're correct, I offered to pay for it. I've used vBulletin before and it's good software but I'm not opposed to other software either.

Will leave the choice to the experts but will be happy to chip in if a paid option is the consensus.

I thought it was in Blazing Saddles.  Which I"m sure Jaybird saw because he thought it was a documentary.  ;)

As a self-proclaimed technotard, I am in no position to offer a position.  That said, thanks to the admins for your support.
