Almost $3 mil now.

I teach a high school engineering program.  It is a second career for me, I have an engineering degree, and worked in private industry for about 15 years before I taught.

This is very common in districts from what I have seen.  Fortunately, in Texas the state legislature passed a law about 8 years ago (?) explicitly saying that the teacher, and only the teacher has the right to give a student the grade in a class.  I.e. the district policy of mandating a minimum grade (50) was no loner allowed.

Having said that if I flunk a kid I had better have it documented 27 different ways how I did everything in the world to make them pass.  Call parents, beg them, etc.  But if I give a kid a 100 no one questions anything.  Guess what happens a lot...

To clarify, that doesn't happen with me.  I'm stubborn (dumb) enough to flunk them if they deserve it.  I had a freshman class a few years ago.  24 kids, 16 failed for the semester, and they didn't fail with a 68, 69, or even a 60.  It was 6, 7, 8.  Single digit averages.  They literally would sit in class and stare at the wall for 90 minutes.  They refused to do anything.

You obviously don't watch the news much.

So, because it isn't a perfect solution we should do nothing?

Or 3) They have no fucking interest in that kind of job or life.

Just as people in general differ, so do men and women differ. The left’s inability to see any scenario except “we have to have fucking equality and distribution among everyone and every job and every income” is stupid on steroids.

Such a world is an interesting thought but history has shown it is entirely unreasonable, unworkable, and disastrous when attempts to implement it are initiated and carried out.

The left thinks everyone needs handlers. The right thinks everyone should enjoy the freedom to choose the limits, or not, of their own goals and dreams.

That, exactly.

My wife would have easily been a high level executive by now.  She has turned down the promotion at least half a dozen times in the last ten years.

She (with my input and blessing) made the decision that having a life outside work, and being directly involved with the raising of our child was more important.  She also despises and refuses to join any gender based organizations (she is an engineering).

If anything she has had more opportunities because she is a female engineer.   She is also very good at her job.

Found RV-6 or 6A at around $50,000 on BS. Compare to: Glasair 1RG for $50k, faster, also acro and retract. Velocity 173, $55k, four place, same speed, no acro. Lancair 360, $55k, 190knots, light acro, retract(of course). Thorp T-18, TW 170 knots, light acro for $43k. Lancair 360 with loaded avionics, 190 knots, $60k.

I'm not complaining(well, maybe a bit), but again - I just don't see if I'm going EXP why I would over-pay by $4-8k for the RV brand. I did see one RV-6 for $45k that looked tasty. I'm not counting them out, but it's no miracle drug.

[edit: Ok, I'm sold on RV. Found my baby: https://www.barnstormers.com/classified_1351771_RV-6A+Priced+to+sell%21.html  Dan, are you going to head over to CO and insp for me?  ]

Sure, I’m just outside Austin, quick flight in the RV-9!

At first glance it looks like it could be a good plane.

Thanks Dan. Here I am, knowing almost nothing about the RV type planes. The only thing I know is they are way over-priced compared to similar EXP planes. For some reason I checked out a side-by-side two seat RV and jaezus-on-the-cross they wanted $76k for the gold plated thing. I kept running the numbers in my head thinking of what else I could get for that kind of money. I was thinking Glassair or maybe an early Lancair of the same cost. Did not compute, but I hear they are good designs.

The RV's do hold value pretty well.  Best bang for your buck is an RV-6A.  Just get one that has the newer rudder (or update yourself).  Since the 7 replaced it they can be had for a bargain.  If you look carefully you can find one with steam and a mid time engine for around $45k.

I love my RV-9A.  I built it myself and have about $100k in it, but it is a full glass panel IFR airplane, and I am the only person to ever act as PIC (not a big deal, but sort of cool).  I'm not sure what other plane out there can come close to it in performance and cost to operate or maintain.

I"m biased (we all are I imagine), but if you can live with a two seater, it is really tough to beat the economy and speed of an RV-6,7, or 9.

I have an RV-9A.  I regularly do 147Knts TAS at about 8-13k feet on about 6.25 gallons an hour.

I also have a 1946 J-3 Cub that is wonderful for low and slow.

And I'm President of Tango Flight and we have several RV-12 and RV-12iS planes.  They are also great planes, and if you want to buy one I'll make you a deal :).

I'm pretty sure Pence will be there to vote if the need arises.

Without Daines Pence can't vote (would then be an odd number.

However last I heard they are saying they could keep the vote open until Saturday night late for Daines so he can take a flight back to D.C. and vote.  He has already said he is a yes.

The democrats have done irreparable harm to that movement, in the naked thirst for power.  It’s disgusting and pathetic.

Once again showing that democrats (and honestly probably all politicians)  really don't give a Damn about anything or anyone other than there own power.

Something is wrong when a person who lied about serving in Vietnam gets to question the integrity of anybody.

This just disgusts me.

I’ll be stunned if she shows up.

She is only running a low chance of a slander or libel suite now. If she lied under oath...,

It will of course be because the republicans aren’t being fair.....
