I hope she retires, then recovers.

She had a bile stent placed. She has less than a year of life, most likely 6 mos at the outside. I base this on my study of the disease when someone in my inner circle had it a couple of years ago. It’s a guess of course. I don’t wish her ill. It is a horrific way to go.  :-[

The left went all over n on the evil this morning when news that Mr Koch died. Not a single bed wetting liberal stood up and told them to have a little class.
Let even one conservative hints that Ruth should retire would be burned at the stable for being mean.

Hypocrisy thy name is liberal.

The report I heard said that it was a small tumor and localized to the body of the pancreas, with no sign of metastasis. That could be untrue, of course, but if it was caught incidentally and early, there is no reason she couldn't have beaten the odds on this one. The main reason pancreatic cancer is so deadly is that it is rarely diagnosed until it is very advanced.

Yes, they did.

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher reacted to the death of David Koch by saying, “I’m glad he’s dead.”

After making jokes about Koch, Maher said, “I know these seem like harsh words and harsh jokes, and I’m sure I will be condemned for them on Fox News, which will portray Mr. Koch as a principled libertarian who believed in the free market. He and his brother have done more than anybody to fund climate science deniers for decades, so f*ck him. The Amazon is burning up. I’m glad he’s dead.”

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has just completed three weeks of radiation treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the U.S. Supreme Court disclosed Friday.

The radiation therapy, conducted on an outpatient basis, began Aug. 5, shortly after a localized cancerous tumor was discovered on Ginsburg's pancreas. The treatment included the insertion of a stent in Ginsburg's bile duct, according to a statement issued by the court.

Doctors at Sloan Kettering said further tests showed no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body. The treatment comes just months after Ginsburg was operated on for lung cancer last December. The 86-year-old justice has been treated for cancer in various forms over the past 20 years.

The article contradicts itself.

A very good friend was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and initially was told they only found dead cancer cells and he had nothing to worry about.   A few months later, he had the same procedure (stent in a bile duct) performed.   Not long after that, he began to have other problems and then it was discovered the cancer had advanced.  He was gone a few months later.  He was a 38 year old man who at the time of the first diagnosis was a healthy, fit guy who ate right and took care of himself.

While pancreatic cancer survival rates have been improving from decade to decade, the disease is still considered largely incurable. According to the American Cancer Society, for all stages of pancreatic cancer combined, the one-year relative survival rate is 20%, and the five-year rate is 7%.

I don't care if it is non-PC.  The left doesn't, so why should I.

I want RBG off the the SC ASAP.  I don't care if she retires or if God calls her home.

I also think the terms for Justices of SCOTUS should be time limited.  Maybe 30 years or so, but some limit.

Of course anything the news says could be wrong. They said she had a bile duct stent placed which is very ominous. It is usually for blockage from tumor growth or expected future tumor blockage. There are other reasons for placing stents but if the stent was part of the radiation treatment, I thought it would be a pancreatic, not biliary (bile) stent.

I did not know she had previously had pancreatic cancer nine years ago. If this is a recurrence of the same cancer that’s very good, it means it is very slow growing. But if it’s a new cancer, we would need to know the exact type and I don’t think that information has been released. I would think if the lung nodules were metastatic from the pancreas they would have said so and of course it would not be stage 1. One expects the first mets to be to the liver but they are not always.

The term limit of a SC Justice would have to be a constitutional amendment.   Like the presidential term, I believe it would be a good thing to term limit everyone in elected government as well as positions that are now "for life".

RBG has stated that she plans on staying into her 90's, but with the latest rounds of treatment, that's not going to happen.  And just the mention of her health drives progressives into a mouth foaming frenzy.

The President will get another SC appointment, and in his second term he'll get possibly two more.

Career politicians of both parties have become de facto ROYALTY.  Incumbents stay in power, many for over 30 years, and some attain higher office, and are lifelong politicians like Joe Biden.  The ones that don't, join the swamp and get RICH as lobbyists.

Agree.  She's not going to make it to the end of Trump's first term, but definitely not his second.  I am not wishing ill on her, just stating a probability.

I don’t wish anyone a death from PC. But I do want her the fuck off the SC. I can compartmentalize those two feelings.
