So bflynn is wrong in his assertion because you are personally unaware of anyone in your subset of conservatives who are "main stream" or "thinking" types who were that paranoid? Um, yeah. I remember when the subject came up. Just because I (or you) thought it bunk doesn't mean jack shit. Just remember there are conspiracy theorists under every rock and political stripe.  ;)

A web search using the keywords "obama declare martial law" certainly yields a fair number of hits, including a video. For example:

Someone actually used change.org to promote a petition calling on Obama to declare martial law to void the 2016 election (it got all of 269 supporters):
https://www.change.org/p/president-barack-obama-president-obama-declare-martial-law-until-the-election-investigation-is-complete

News articles:
https://www.commdiginews.com/politics-2/ben-carson-might-obama-cancel-the-2016-election-28523/
https://www.ibtimes.com/will-obama-declare-martial-law-keep-trump-out-white-house-conspiracy-theorists-think-2444721

And at least one surviving video (not many views, but I do recall seeing similar fearful rants at the time - just because "main stream" types didn't engage in it doesn't mean jack):

You’re seriously asking if bflynn was wrong when he said “...Republicans were absolutely sure that Obama was going to declare martial law and remain president...”?  Yea, he was flat out wrong, with a little hyperbole thrown in for good measure.

What the Democrats, and the Media are calling "Assault Weapons" are very common, regular SEMI AUTOMATIC rifles that are the most popular in the U.S.  There's probably over 30 - 50 million of them out there that could be classified as such, and it's just not AR-15's and AK-47 type cosmetic clones.

My 75 year old USGI Inland made M1 Carbine is the same as my AR-15 in operation.  It takes a 15 round, or 30 round magazine, and shoots a small, intermediate round that is more like a handgun round than rifle round.  The AR-15 shoots a small, varmint round.

I bought my first AR-15 during the first Assault Weapons Ban which we endured 1994 - 2004.  It sun setted, and was shown to not do a thing to reduce crime by people using a gun.  It also restricted all magazine capacities to 10 rounds.  The ONLY reason I bought an AR was that it was banned.  The only difference in the rifle I bought during the ban was that it could not have a flash suppressor.  Big whoop.  Magazines over ten rounds just became much more expensive due to the demand created by the ban.

I was not alone.  What the BAN did was to open up the AR-15 to American gun owners as a useful firearm that was easy, and fun to shoot (low recoil), very reliable, and very accurate.  It is also modular and easily adaptable by the average user for any use.  Hunting, target shooting, competition, home defense, etc.  It is the ideal all around rifle EXCEPT for big game as it shoots a small caliber, light round.  However, there are AR-10's available in larger calibers suitable for game such as deer, mule deer, Elk, Moose, Bear, etc.

There is no way to round up all these legally owned, semi auto rifles.  NONE.  It can not be done.  Yes, you can ban them, and make people turn them in like Australia did with their MANDATORY gun "buy back".  Still many did not turn them in.  The U.S. is not like Australia, and Americans will not turn in their guns.  Never.
Sadly all mine fell overboard in a tragic canoe capsizing in the middle of Lake Michigan. 922’ deep.

The Democrats have two ways to achieve complete irreversible takeover of this country and transform it into a socialist utopia. Get as many low class free stuff voters into the country as possible, and two, get rid of the electoral college. They’re hoping the first will get the job done because the second will be harder to accomplish but they are trying.
I’ve noticed that they have really quieted  down on the electoral college rhetoric lately. I take that as a sign that they are very pessimistic about 2020, and understand what it would mean if Donald Trump DID win the popular vote - all these liberal states that passed the EC bypass laws would see THEIR EVs go to Trump.

After Tuesday’s debate I saw a focus group discussion on some channel (not FOX) and when Democrat voters were asked if they thought that a democrat would win in 2020, only one member of the group raised their hands. The rest looked like someone just ran over the cat that they live with in their mom’s basement. It was epic.

Maybe I missed it, but I haven't seen anyone say you were "on the left".  The fact that a few, or even several people disagree with you shouldn't be a reason to go hide, for you, nor anyone else.

I think the reason that there are only a few people that lean Left here is that they can not defend their positions with facts, evidence, nor logical arguments.  They are usually based in only emotion.  (not talking specifically about you) They get frustrated, and yes sometimes there are some harsh responses, but sticks and stones, ya know?
Well exactly. When bflynn says that Trump only wants to represent some of the country, but not all of it, that’s just an idiotic, hyperbolic emotion born either of ignorance or regurgitation of the left’s mouthpieces. Either way they aren’t even worthy of a thoughtful response.

Exactly - Trump is not perfect and has significant faults that limit his effectiveness.  Additionally, I don't like him.

I'm willing to consider if anyone else would be better.

Sorry I can't respond to everyone individually, but when the group thing gets going and everyone is quoting me and responding, I just don't have the time or energy to spend a couple of hours writing responses here.

BTW, I'm not on the left, but this is why people on the left don't come here and this place becomes an echo chamber.
It’s always helpful when you tell one of us:

“You aren’t inclined to understand, so you never will.”

The things I stated are evil to me, admittedly a lesser evil. We should not have a president that uses his office as a bully pulpit. We should not have a president that views himself as a representative of only some of the people and who is so divisive that some of the people agree. That is a bad president.

I am all for him using social media. He would be a better president if he filtered his thoughts better and wasn’t so impulsive.
That’s ridiculous. The POTUS is the ultimate bully pulpit.

“Bully pulpit - NOUN - a public office or position of authority that provides its occupant with an outstanding opportunity to speak out on any issue.”

In fact, the world hinges on the words spoken from this bully pulpit.

From 2008-2016 the world heard the US was an unexceptional, flawed and shamed country not worthy of being a super power.

From 2016 to now the world is hearing that the US is exceptional, is the true leader of the free world, and can exert it’s influence when it benefits the US and the world.

If you only hear that the president feels that he is representative of only some of the people, then you have been indoctrinated by CNN and their ilk, and have not actually listed to one of his many rallies and speeches.

Unlike Obama, who for 8 years poked his bony finger in my chest and told me that I’m flawed, racist, and wrong, Trump’s speeches are filled with pro-American, pro-citizen, and pro-exceptionalism. You CLEARLY have not listened to them.  He embraces minorities. You wouldn’t know that by listening to the MSM.

So how would you reword Trump’s tweet, azure? Let’s face it ... if POTUS is silent, the rabid Dems control the narrative. He has to stay in play.

EXACTLY!  He will never be reported on fairly. Never. I was initially against his constant tweeting, and still wince on occasion, but he has mastered the ability to speak directly to 300 million Americans every single day. Masterful.

No, you're putting words in our mouths.

You aren't inclined to understand, so you never will.
You’re a patronizing prick sometimes.

YOU said voting for Trump was voting for evil. Anthony asked you to defend it, and you stated a bunch of things you may not like, but have noting to do with evil. You don’t like his style or his rhetoric. Fine. But you sound as hyperbolic as every host on CNN.

Grow up. Posts like yours demonstrate your lack of depth on the subject as well as your dainty feelings, not any superior intelligence you attempt to portray by calling yourself a moderate.

Agree with @bflynn. It's not that he shouldn't be FREE to say what he wants, in the sense of legally free. Nobody is saying the President has fewer rights than everyone else. But he has a responsibility to LEAD the country, and that includes leading people he disagrees with. Lashing out in anger at someone because they're critical of you is not strong leadership. I have no problem with a "love it or leave it" comment from a private citizen, but I don't think it's an appropriate thing for the President to say.
So you and bflynn prefer a Republican who is meek, mild, and must take a daily beating and never open their mouth in protest, like George W. Bush.

Sorry.  I prefer a man who fights back when he’s treated unfairly, particularly when it seems the only people in his corner are us unelected Americans, and who is being attacked by democrats, many republicans and the MSM every single minute.

Here was my office for tonight’s shift. Threshold of 18.  Over 95 degrees at 4:00. Traffic was really light all day today, so this weekend will be busy.

Read the NOTAM or you’ll get the paddle!

That's a fair point. I looked at his Twitter feed today and most of it was quite positive. He really CAN be an inspirational tweeter when he wants to be. But then there's the 1% of the time that he lets something out that totally clears the room. IMO all the positive stuff doesn't make up for those bombs he drops.
I’m not sure if Obama used Twitter (I’m not on Twitter) but let’s presume Trump is the first President to use it prolifically.

If NOT for Twitter, how do you think Trump would get his message out?  Would the MSM give him daily air time if he asks for it?  Not on your life.

I occasionally cringe at some of his Tweets, but I’d much rather have a president telling me what he thinks on a regular basis than to have a president whisperer to a Russian “After my election I’ll have more flexibility.”

If the good Tweets are wiped out by the occasional bad Tweet, who’s fault is that?  It’s the MSM trying to control the message of a President unable to be controlled, and they despise that and are doing everything they can to further THEIR message, not his.

I wouldn’t have said this two years ago when I didn’t like the Tweets, but now I say “Keep Tweeting.”  When you are running a daily gauntlet with the MSM, the Dems, and many Republicans against you, it’s the only way.

Because he singled out people of color for his diatribe.  Hence indicating that they aren't real Americans to start with.  He's done this all along, skirting on the edge of racism without overtly stepping over, just so his little fanboys like you would have a reason to defend him.

The really sad thing is Reagan's America was a shining city on the hill, showing all the world the grace and superiority of America's values.  This sort of hate based electioneering is anathema to previous Conservative thought and ideology.  I might not have agreed with Conservatives about a lot, but I certainly respected them and their views.  Not anymore.  No this lot.
Bull fucking shit.

If “people of color” are inoculated from any and all criticism, including harsh criticism, because doing to is deemed to be racist, then the tyranny of the minority has already won the battle.

Of course that premise is bullshit, yet that’s the entire protective shield of the left, including you. It’s a cowardly way to live, and threatens freedom of speech that we all should have.

And when a leftist starts citing Reagan, then you know they are on their way to losing the war.
