Thanks Lucifer. It makes the statement "fly the airplane" questionable as the computer is flying it instead. What's your instinctive response when your stall warning chirps or the airspeed dips below what you want on takeoff/climb out? It wouldn't be cool having a computer that didn't allow you to respond in the manner you wanted.
Can Boeing recover from this?

Boeing will recover. The 737 is getting old and Boeing wants to move on with a clean sheet design. However customers such as Southwest still want the "one type" aircraft. At some point Boeing will just have to announce the end of the 737 line when orders of the 737-700/800 decline.

Southwest thinking of Airbus.

The day is coming.
One thing Airbus has over Boeing is aircraft familiarity from narrow body to wide body. The cockpit and systems of the A320 through the A380 are remarkably similar. Whereas Boeing allows the customer to configure the cockpit to their taste, Airbus limits this and virtually all Airbus have the same cockpit layout.
If a pilot is typed on the A320, this allows him to fly the A318, A319, A320 and A321. If the airline needs a wide body, such as the A330, then the upgrade course is only 6 sim sessions. The systems and cockpits are almost identical.
Boeing is starting to go that way with the 787/797 designs, but Airbus is way ahead of them.

Well, having done both.......... ;)

I like the bottom of one, and the top of the other. Yeah, both. But, I need more information, and maybe research. A lot of research.
-
Yesss, definitely needs more research

The Airbus has a camel toe.

I'd have no problems riding either/both.

I'd have no problems riding either/both.
Neither would I, and at the same time.

The age old dilemma: Luxury vs Speed.

Saw a t-shirt yesterday that read “Boys will be boys,” but the second “boys” was crossed out and replaced with “decent human persons.”
Gag.

You can update a older plane to take new tech....the C130J is proof of that..the Herky BIrds will probably be flying after 2050...but they sure as hell failed with the 737 Max.
