Spin Zone / Re: Have all the liberal/progressives left?
« on: May 24, 2017, 07:00:13 AM »
My point remains. This site wasn't started as a conservative discussion forum, it just happened that the majority of regular posters here are more conservative minded. I want more people to post here in general, including more people with differing view points. Generally speaking, you're not likely to see people name calling here whereas if I posted over at DailyKos, I would likely be immediately insulted for daring to disagree with their narrative. But again, that's a known liberal site. PilotSpin wasn't started to be a conservative site.

My thoughts exactly.  Nobody mandates this site to be conservative leaning.  As a group, it seems, pilots/aircraft owners are more conservative by nature.  We are responsible individuals, we pay for things, and we accept being held accountable for our actions.  Plus we burn 100LL, and/or Jet A.  By contrast, many liberal/progressives (not all, mind you) blame everyone else for their circumstances, have a victim mentality, and often think the USA is a empire that enjoys taking advantage of others, and exploiting them.

My question remains: how many of you participate in discussions at DailyKos or other liberal controlled discussion sites?
The difference is that DailyKos is a known liberal site. PilotSpin is not a conservative nor a liberal site, it's just a site open to political discussions. As it happens, the majority of posters happen to be more conservative.

Maybe they get tired of the fact that a vocal subgroup of conservatives would rather discuss their psycho-analysis of liberals (e.g. this entire thread being an example) than whatever point the liberals are trying make?

Guess I hit too close to home, huh?

I would hope not. The Blaze is having issues right now, especially after the Tomi Lahren incident. CRTV may be the better option, or a new network altogether. I'm not a fan of Glenn Beck. I'm really not a huge fan of Sean Hannity either, for that matter.

I like Hannity more than Beck, although he certainly isn't my favorite.  Beck is a LOON.

Spin Zone / Re: Google Bias
« on: May 22, 2017, 02:35:25 PM »
Absent proof otherwise, why should I believe they are deliberately biased since there are simpler explanations? For example, the algorithms probably weight web pages by their popularity, and liberal web sites may simply have higher visit counts.
This is not necessarily addressed to you Jim, but it always astounds me how "proof" is required to cause suspicion of liberals, but idle wishful suspicions are regarded as "proof" of conservative wrongdoings.

Let me ask you a couple of questions:
1.  Do you think Google is technologically able to program in such bias?
2.  Do you think the honcho's at Google are above doing so?
3.  If "Google" is biased, which side do you think they lean towards?

My responses would be;
Yes
No

Spin Zone / Re: Trump speech in Saudi Arabia

Nice non-interventionist rhetoric.
Seems unlikely to be acted on, though.

Why do you say that?  The first step is recognizing, and identifying the problem in addition to admitting the problem.  For eight years Obama, nor any Democrat would admit that radical Islamic terrorism was the problem.  Appeasement only emboldens them.

I think that's a pretty ballsy speech, in a good way.

It's a start.

The first lady also was not even asked to wear a head covering of any kind.

But there is still a long way to go

Melania is beautiful.

Moochelle's hijab needed to cover her entire head.

Mark Steyn is the best conservative talk show host out there.

Totally agree.  He doesn't have the discipline to not respond, nor lash out.  His advisors need to reign him in.  He sometimes gives the story legs where it may have just died if he left it alone.  I do like a lot of the people he has around him.  Unlike Obama, he has qualified people from both inside, and outside government.  Obama just surrounded himself with lefty activists, academicians, and politicians.

And only the elites see it as a real problem.  The middle class folks in flyover country get a kick out of it. Trump does not play by the rules the rest of the DC insiders play by and he doesn't intend to.  Y'all want to think of him as a politician like all the others.  He is not that by any means.  You need to adjust your thinking.

Spin Zone / Re: Roger Ailes dead at 77 - Former Fox news chief
« on: May 18, 2017, 09:43:38 AM »
At this point in our society, you cannot say much to people with whom you work.  I haven't complimented women in the workplace for decades.  I don't know what Ailes did, or didn't do to the women at Fox News.  There seemed to have been several allegations, and at least one law suit.  In my mind there must have been something there, or the gold diggers got damn lucky.  Who knows.

I read a separate article recently on Fox News that has them floundering due to the recent leadership, and scheduling/host changes.  I gave up most of my cable channels a while back, as I wasn't watching much, and downgraded my service, so don't watch Fox anyway.  I get most of my info on the internet.

The lynchings will continue, get used to it. The left/media is throwing the biggest political tantrum I've ever seen.

Spin Zone / Re: "You're fired!"
« on: May 12, 2017, 07:38:42 AM »
Heard Bill O'Reilly a little while ago talking about this - he believes the number one reason Comey got fired was because Trump does not trust him.  His behavior has been the reinforcing element, his refusal to investigate leaks of classified information coupled with his focus on Russia makes Comey look like a political hack.

O'Reilly also clearly stated that there's no journalism going on - today media people determine a narrative they want and then adopt and sometimes invent the facts to support the narrative.

Smart man...

I've disparaged his intellect (truly low-handing fruit),

His intellect?  Since you put so much faith in "higher" education, which Ivy League school did you attend on a par with the institution in which President Trump attended, and graduated?
