In 2019, an estimated 38,800 people died in car accidents in the US (source National Safety Council). An estimated 4.4 million required medical attention
Medical errors likely lead to more deaths than car accidents (estimates are difficult because death certificates don't ever list medical error as the cause of death). Few, if any, studies would put the number lower than 38,000 per year.
