I've speculated about that myself, and his wife and/or others may have already tried to dissuade him from continuing his campaign. Joe may just be too stubborn to listen. He's clearly losing it.
Comcast who also owns NBC and MSNBC held his big, kick off, high dollar fund raiser in Philly. They recently had another meeting with him and other big donors, I believe to voice their concerns, but more for how poorly his campaign is going, rather than his mental health. Brain Roberts, their CEO, was a big Obama friend, donor, financial bundler, but I don't think he's nearly as enamored with Joe.
