Oh for God's sake. Pine Straw isn't real straw. To have real straw, a plant needs to have a grassy stalk. Pine Straw is fake straw.
Give me wheat straw or give me death!

I'd rather have the pine-straw. But seriously, who would gather that stuff? Much less who would pay a price to buy it.

Actually, when I lived in Charlotte that's about the only stuff you could find to lay in your plant beds. Guys would come down the street with truckloads full of bails of the stuff.
Unfortunately, when cutting open a bail one afternoon, what did I find? A very live and pissed off baby Copperhead!
I hate snakes, and that's one reason why I'm back in Wisconsin.
