Whilst I was typing my discouraging remarks on another thread my stepson sent me this in an email. So maybe some hope after all.
Far Left Media Is Dying Because Gen-Z Is Too Conservative
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Wa30rOaPtU4
My stepson says, “Here's what's coming. Young people were raised on the web have seen through the lefts lies and have nothing but scorn for PC nonsense. It's notable that the most shared left wing website gets less shares than the 5th most popular conservative site, and over 5 times less than the most popular conservative site.”

The church is finding a great paradox somewhat the same.
The newer, far less blind clergy are not nearly as dogmatic about everything leftist, as the middle age clergy and the far left whacko clergy, that never worshipped God at all, just pretended to in order to provide salve to their conscience for their sickening adoration for abortion and genocidal socialist regimes.

Huh?

He's talking about what I call the "religious left".

You mean the mainstream Fascists? The Democrats?

Not the mainstream ones. The religious ones. Orson Scott Card is an example, although he's more authoritarian than liberal. He is a devoted Mormon but thinks communism would be great if we just did it right.

Leftist Christians think abortion is a sacrament, that homosexual marriage is a gift from God and that Jesus was a sexist pig.
They are whining followers, desperate to follow whatever stupid bandwagon is rolling by and haven’t the courage to stand for their beliefs because someone might call them a bigot, or a hater, or even worse, they might be called conservative.
-
The church my youngest son, 44, and his family attend teaches the gay marriage is okay, etc, etc. The pastor totally ignores the Old Testament and tells them that Jesus loved everyone and so that makes it all okay.
-
The concept that everything is OK is a trend that ran through the churches when mainline denominations tried to copy the more out there, modern, rock and roll style churches.
Like everything else wanna be liberals do, they took it to a degree that made them into swell places to hang around instead of churches. Rock music, rewriting the Bible to make sure no one gets offended and simply ignoring the parts that make whiners uncomfortable all are / have caused wholesale exodus from mainline churches and a generation of attendees completely ignorant of what they believe.
Once you sacrifice truth for political correctness you end up with nonsense and stupidity like 32 genders and evil capitalism.

Gotta love people who treat Jesus as a get out of jail free card.

Well no, you don't have to, especially if you're not a limp wristed pansy kind of Christian. When you ask WWJD, you must remember that taking a horse whip through the temple is within the realm of possibilities. Put in modern terms, that would be like shooting up the trading pit on Wall Street.

Good news! The NYT admits government is too big! Inadvertently, but it works for me.

I didn't read the whole article, so I didn't see the connection to the government being too big. It did demonstrate just how huge the government is, but "too" big?
I didn't read the whole thing because I couldn't get past this part:
With the government in shutdown, a large number of federal employees have found themselves either on unpaid leave or working without pay.
I don't believe that those government employees are going to actually lose pay. They always get back pay, even for the time they didn't work. My BIL always tries to plan a vacation around the time of a shutdown so he can take the time off without touching his allocated vacation days. He usually (not always) gets his back pay before his credit card bills come due. He hates Trump and anything Republican, but he loves government shutdowns.

Undoubtedly this is Trump’s fault.
