I find this statement quite alarming:
There is no sensory input during silence and imagined music, so this activity comes from the brain’s predictions. The research team also decoded the brain activity to determine which song someone was imagining.

If they can know what song you're imagining from your brain activity, is it too much a leap to think they will refine it to the point of knowing other thoughts you're thinking?
I can see it now, the Biden administration issues an executive order that all registered Republicans, straight white males, and flyover country residents must submit to a brain recording session to check for "subversive thoughts" (anything not aligned with woke doctrine).

This group has already been labeled as "domestic terrorist" and are now subject to laws being created by the executive branch. This group can be arrested and detained for months on any charges deemed necessary by the regime.
Innocent until proven guilty only applies to those of the preferred ideology and group think. The domestic terrorist have no rights, and are guilty as charged. We are now seeing this daily.
The Xiden Administration doesn't need this technology, they have their associates at the CCP guiding them on how to proceed.
