Title: Campaign ads
Post by: Becky (My pronouns are Assigned/By/God) on October 11, 2018, 03:03:52 PM
We don’t watch TV, so I don’t see political ads. Ran across this shot online, and it made me wonder what any of you who do watch TV are seeing. This year it seems there is much rich fodder for ads showing the folly of putting more Dems in power. I hope the Repubs use it!!!

I guess that would depend on their viewpoints and other life experiences.  I would no sooner vote against a protester in pink than I would vote for a fighter pilot just because of those individual characteristics. I would need to know more.  Of course those types of ads which both parties use ad nauseas are not intended to inform but rather cause a gut reaction.

If you keep that kind of crappy commentary up, you will be accepted here in no time.

Welcome aboard.

Min qualifications to become a US armed forces pilot: completion of HS with high enough grades to get into univ. Completion of univ degree in one of the sciences(rarely a humanity). Physical qualifications for service in the armed forces. Selection to one of the mililtary flight schools. Successful completion of flight school. Assignment and qualification to a flight squadron.

Min Qualifications to be a mob protester: IQ of approx 70. Loud mouth. Ability to follow simple instructions by an overseer.

As far as advocacy in the Senate goes for either pol side, I would prefer the fighter pilot. I'm sure some would prefer the mob protester.

True, and often the gut reaction achieved is not the one intended. As we saw with the Kavanaugh smear attempt. And the Nike kneeler ad.

True but part of what I was trying to convey is that being a former pilot pilot does not mean that one has the proper judgment or temperament to be in government leadership nor does it necessarily confer conservative viewpoints on policy issues.  Also I have seen loud mouthed mobs on the right as well as the left.  Political ads should address what the candidate believes on an issue or set of issues.  Not a bunch of imagery intended to distort or inflame.

Welcome Skydog!  I have seen a lot of angry mobs on the Left, including Antfia, Occupy Wall Street, and BLM.  Both promoted by the Democrats, Media, and the moneyed people behind them.  However, I had not seen much violence, or destrustion fromt the Right.

I have seen horrible attack ads from both the Left, and the Right with a lot of half truths, and outright LIES.  It is disgusting.

Our campaign ads from both sides have been disgustingly terrible. I really can't wait for the election to be over and these ads to vanish.

You won't have long to relax.  Especially if the Rs win.  2020 campaigning has already started to some extent and will really ramp up after Nov 7.  The next 2 years will be hell for all of us.
