Helping: Maintaining your health
Helping: Normal purchasing rather than holding off a major purchase (or hoarding)
Hurting: feeding the panic
Hurting: Hoarding essential supplies, especially gloves, sanitizer, cleaning supplies.

Life is normal for me. I work from home to begin with, so no change there. I do normal shopping, no hoarding or any of that crazy crap.
I've been catching up on home improvement, getting the landscaping done, etc.
-
I make normal household purchases, nothing out of the ordinary, nor in larger amounts. If you go relatively early the stores seemed to be stocked just fine here. I have made some more ammunition than normal, but with components I already had on hand, but since I found an outdoor range that is open, been using some of it also. The back up supplies I always keep have not been touched. I now work from home and have ceased all socializing.

I think the lava falls you added to your abode’s landscape provide a nice vertical contrast and hopelessness.

........but I need 10,000 rolls of toilet paper!
I did buy flowers for the first time in a while. My wife likes flowers in the house on occasion.

Drop by often?
Enough. I’ve been told to make it my permanent home.

Nothing like riding the elevator down into Hell in Doom3. Good times. But I guess I date myself.

LOVED the Doom series. Years and years ago this happened. My sister is a very granola love everyone vegan. She saw me playing Doom and asked if she could try. One of the skeleton things jumped out and she freaked. I yelled, shoot it! She did. Again and again and again. She was surprised at how much fun it was to shoot things. Scared her that she enjoyed it and she never played again. We still laugh about it.

By the way, someone please tell those idiots to stop sacrificing animals to me! I'm not running a petting zoo down here!
Geez, why can't they sacrifice a pizza?

I've been sending rodents and insects to the nether regions, also a rare but occasional radical Vegan, Feminist, Lesbian and guys with Man Buns that drink non fat decaf soy lattes. Now I know better.

Great story. I also loved the Doom series, my husband brought home that shareware and we were hooked. Our girls were about 6 and 8 and they played and loved it too. I guess we were terrible parents.
Back then we only had one computer and all had to share. Quality family time.

And now this
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/03/texas-company-looking-to-take-federal-stimulus-money-to-employees-back-from-their-paychecks/
Damn this just keeps getting more bizarre................
-
I’m totally confused. Is everyone getting money whether you are laid off or made to take time off without pay? If you are still getting a paycheck, why are you getting stimulus money? And if you are, it’s certainly wrong for the company to essentially take it from you.

From what I have read, everyone is getting a check (they're basing this on last years IRS returns). Also, for those unemployed they will get the state unemployment plus a federal unemployment subsidy.
Personally I disagree with people employed getting a check. I wish they could have just concentrated on helping unemployed and business affected by the shutdown.

It is my understanding that everyone with a social security number gets a check.
And, yeah, it's completely despicable for a company to grab the stimulus.... unless, perhaps, the company is paying everyone but sent everyone home. Years ago I was out on medical leave and received Workers Comp payments even though my company was paying me my regular salary because I was on sick leave. I had no issue with signing the Workers Comp payments over to my company.

Everyone? But there is a income limit or something, right?
I found it:
The earnings limit is $146,500 for people who file their taxes as “head of household.” The head of household status means a person is unmarried, paying for more than half of a household’s expenses and claiming at least one dependent
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, which President Donald Trump signed into law Friday, says taxpayers making up to $75,000 in adjusted gross income will receive $1,200 checks, and $500 for each child. The same rules apply for married couples who file returns under $150,000.
Above that threshold, the money starts to phase out

I wonder if the stimulus money will get added to my 2020 taxable income... which wouldn't be entirely unfair.

We were wondering too if it will be taxable.

initial perusal of google results suggests that the stimulus checks are not taxable... although there could be some impact if your 2020 taxable income is much higher than your 2019 taxable income.
However, I'll wait to see what information is posted on irs.gov to be sure.

Why? From taxes it comes and to taxes it shall go.
But really, why do you think it is unfair?

I think if they are sending anyone a check, they should send everyone a check. It is like a tax-cut.
I don't personally need this check, but I'm not turning it down. I have a couple of friends and relatives that really do need it, and I will be passing it on to them.
But all-in-all, I think the 2 Trillion is just a government tactic to get all of their old wish-lists filled. They could have just sent every American a check for $6k and stood by and watch the economy blast off once the virus is under control.
Or perhaps $3k to each American and one trillion spent on test kits, ventilators and hospitals (including, but not limited to overtime pay for healthcare workers and viral research scientists).

I'm pretty disgusted by the whole thing. They are just printing up monopoly money anyway, it's not like they have the money to spend. They should have stuck with Trump's original plan which was to send cash to those who lost their job, and make loans to businesses PERIOD. Well except buy medical supplies. Nothing else is needed whatsoever. I blame the swamp for this. Trump will, of course, get ALL the blame.

I didn't say it would be unfair.

You're right. It was the double negative that threw me, but that's still no excuse.
edit to clarify: no excuse for my not understanding correctly.
