A city council in North Carolina unanimously approved reparations for black citizens while apologizing for the city’s role in slavery, according to reports.
The historic measure was passed by the Asheville City Council in a 7-0 vote Tuesday night, the Citizen Times reported.
“Hundreds of years of black blood spilled that basically fills the cup we drink from today,” said Councilman Keith Young, who is one of two black council members.
The reparations won’t come in the form of direct payments to black residents — instead, investments will be made in areas that see racial disparities, the Citizen Times said.
A Community Reparations Commission will be formed to recommend how those resources will be used.

I'm pretty sure that I have a little black blood in my body from a great great great grandparent. I wonder if I could receive reparations rather than having to pay? (if it comes to that).

THE failure of the black community comes from students failing middle and high school education.
The Left is unwilling to do what needs to be done - to control student's behavior in classes, to make it clear that bad behavior and bad grades are unacceptable. The two are linked and someone who has bad grades should not be advanced, they must stay in an after school program for tutoring. Failure to participate becomes a crime requiring more significant steps. But no, their guilt gets the better of them and to the demise of black communities.
Jimmy Buffet has a couple of lines in one of his songs - "That's why it's still a mystery to me why some people live like they do. So many good things happening out here, they haven't even got a clue". That's the difference, they don't even know what is possible.

This is purely a Progressive Virtue Signaling exercise to grow government and raise taxes for a "good cause". No, a few parks and Rec centers won't help Black people. As flynn says, a paradigm shift in education is required in the Black Community.

Yeah, Piper and the U.S. military had a habit of doing that and not that long ago either. It may cause some angst, but fortunately GA isn't on anybody's radar screen, yet. Any Comanche owners? :)
