Title: Citizen Journalism
Post by: Becky (My pronouns are Assigned/By/God) on December 07, 2018, 09:21:28 AM
This could be kind of exciting, really. I see the pitfalls, but hey, if the “official” media is screwing us, it’s only human to cast around for something better. I believe most people want to know the truth. Some say liberals even KNOW the truth, but can’t accept it because it messes with their constructed worldview.

Basically, citizen journalism is people going to where the news is being made and then reporting what they saw. Looks like right now possibly conservatives mostly, wonder why that is.  ::)

Very interesting that these people went to Broward County Airport after the rental truck with a box of ballots was called in by a rental car clerk at the airport. Suddenly the airport was closed because of a “bomb scare.”

Aren’t most of our journalists citizens?  Well except for that dead Saudi dude.  Though he was a Saudi citizen so I guess he was a citizen, just not here.   :o

You're purposely being dense, right?  Or is it more sarcasm?

I guess if you're excited about folks with no credentials at all saying whatever they like then good for you.  I suppose its OK when they say things you like.  Of course when they say things you don't like then they're part of the fake news.

Most professional journalists are just leftist activists disguised as "reporters", and "news" readers.  If you asked them why they went to journalism school, and became journalists they will tell you it is to "change the world", not report the facts.  In other words, they view their jobs is to mold public opinion to a Progressive viewpoint.  Cronkite even admitted that.

You mean like the legions of reporters working for Fox news?

Yes it’s on purpose.  I understand what the term “citizen journalist” is supposed to mean just as I do the term “citizen soldier” or when a cop refers to a non cop as a citizen.  I just have always thought using the word citizen in that manner was odd even though it’s widely accepted.

Plus I thought the recent Khashoggi controversy and debates about his citizenship was a funny tie in.  My mind frequently functions in a warped, distorted, or perverse manner.  I like to think of myself as a citizen satirist.

My thinking is the ratio of numbnuts on the left to the numbnuts on the right mirrors the ratio of Americans leaning left or right.  Seems that way to me.  the left-leaning outlets seem to be greater in number, but I think the right leaning outlets are far larger and wealthier.  Also, the right wing has more than a few houses of worship backing it.

Which is kind of how it should be.  I know you guys prefer and echo chamber, where no one ever says anything you disagree with.  At least, that's how you come off.  But in a diverse nation there will be diverse viewpoints.  The trick is to listen, instead of accuse and denigrate.  I admit I'm not as good at that as I'd like to be.

Nope. He's here in the lion's den, the literal opposite of his echo chamber.

You're right.

The only problem with that is mike is used to speaking into the echo chamber of the faculty lounge and having every single person nodding and agreeing without a bit of thought.

Here he uses the same strategy against people who almost never accept face value without thought and often careful review. Those pablum statements meant to placate progressive robots fall flat in that environment.

To make it worse, he engages in brutal projection of his own failings, trying to make believe they are our behaviors and not his.

Ok. It's no secret that the faculty lounge at college institutions is likely full of liberals. And yet, here he is, mixing it up with folks who have views that are the polar opposite of his. Let's give credit where it is due. I don't see any of you outlining the places you get exposure to views that don't align with your own.

Let's face a few facts here.

Perfesser comes here to troll.  He's bored, and enjoys the trolling.  He throws out half baked bullshit and when someone challenges him on it, he immediately resorts to making claims of racism, or bigotry, or his tried and true standard, issuing a bunch of profanities and leaving.

I give you credit in that you will make a reasonable argument, and you don't take a CNN talking point and cling to it as if it's absolute truth.

I belong to two political web sites, that I won't name, that lean liberal, progressive, and most of the people hate Trump.  There arguments are purely emotional, they are angry, bitter, envious, and parrot CNN talking points.  It is a trait of Democrats.

OK, so you think I'm a troll, meaning my participation is utterly useless to you.  Now you get to do something about it.

I have never remained anywhere I realized I was not wanted.  If you really believe what you just wrote, then you can here and now say you want me gone, and I will be.  Just that simple.

Or... you could lose the holier than thou, faculty loung bullshit and engage like a person instead of a egotistical child, who can’t wait to take his ball and run home crying...

By the way how many times have you quit us forever??

Five, six, seven??? More???

It’s up to,you.

It is difficult for me to understand that liberal/progressives don't see the Media, Social Media, and Tech as 95% far left, progressive.  It is obvious, and they even admit it now on many levels.  Other than Fox (and that is starting to lean left) and a few talk radio shows, the rest of the media strongly supports Democrats, and pushes their agenda.

This is a free forum. We don’t moderate, or ban, or ask people to leave. It’s as simple as it gets.

And yes, I believe you are a troll.   ;D

A good mix is 50/50 or up to 25/75 but after that (when the majority is greater than 75%) then the predominating majority tend to grow even bigger and bigger until they have eradicated the minority, through intimidation and discrimination. It becomes a lynch mob actively eliminating the opposition. This is what has happened at our universities.  No longer are universities a place of open-minded truth seeking. There are literally mobs of angry protestors if a conservative even dares to visit and give a talk. Students are no longer taught how to debate and analyze different points of view in a fair minded way.  This is a catastrophe for our society. I don't like seeing it here in reverse any better.

It HAS been a while since you trolled us with your infamous egotistical, bullshit about your IQ.

At some point you need to realize that you are not special. You're not gifted and you're not the icon of intellect you keep telling yourself. If you need to threaten to quit to get attention, what you are is a fucking crybaby, who needs his mommy to make the bad pilots stop teasing him.

In other words, you are a very typical progressive whiner.

Was that enough attention for you, mikey?
