At this point, what difference does it make?

Some women are always complaining about the pay gap and how there's not actually equal rights. So if men have to sign up, why not women?

I'm not saying I'm in favor of this, but it is equal.

I didn't see anything in there about forcing them into combat; just requiring them to register.

Of course, there is that slippery slope thing, and that damn camel's nose.  But I still think we are a long way from forcing women into combat.

And to tell the truth, that might be the best thing that could happen to those little snowflakes.

Depends upon your definition of force.  I don't think many of the women that were on offensive or defensive small arms combat necessarily wanted to be there per se, but they were.

I have no problem with women registering for the draft.  Equality can be a bitch sometimes.

I, too, don't understand the outrage. The article title is misleading, also. Forcing sign up for selective service is not the same as forcibly conscripting people into a combat role.

I never quite understood the Selective Service registration concept to begin with. At age 18 many people move to college, move out on their own, or otherwise change their addresses, making the registration at age 18 relatively stale pretty quickly.

As a Vet in a co-ed unit I found it a distraction to mission readiness to have females to look after.  Military leaders are often paid babysitters as you have to care for those that have the legal authority as adults but cannot manage their way out of a cardboard box, let alone manage their own lives to not adversely affect their work.  Weakest link in a chain and all that.

With that said, many of the very BEST Marines I ever served with were women, and I learned much about leadership from a particular 5'4" female Company Commander.
