I notice that facebook is blocking all links to the documents in their never ending support of the party of corruption and hypocrisy.

It forced Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign, though she was immediately hired by Hillary. Supposedly there's a lot more emails to come. I'm sure whatever is in them won't be good for Hillary. I am curious, however, why the Russians chose to do this (if they really are behind it, that is). If the result is Hillary losing the election, why would the Russians want Trump? Maybe they think they can get away with more with him than with Hillary?

If they are behind it, which is up for debate, I'd guess it's because they believe a Trump presidency will be more favorable to them. Whether they believe that would be by direct action or by incompetence, I'm not sure.

It is not likely that Putin is behind this but other Russians with other motives.
-
It is not likely, IMO that the Russians have anything to do with this. A Hillary presidency would be far more likely to be good for them than a Trump presidency based on the whole fellow-traveller kindred soul nature of the modern Dem party and the old hard-line commies.
I am actually waiting to see what Assange leaks which he has said could lead to Hillary being indicted, might be interesting stuff.
I think it tells volumes that these leaks are almost exclusively focused on Hillary and the DNC leadership, since they are coming from traditionally Left leaning if not outright Dem-supporting organizations.
This could end up a lot like Chicago in 1968.
I predict severe upheaval and nastiness and I hope it is all televised to show just how dishonest and self-interested the Dem party has become (acknowledging that the Republican Party has many of the same issues just nowhere near to the same extent).

A note today from a liberal I know following news stories today regarding the leaked emails: "man I might have to vote for Gary Johnson, this shit is getting ridiculous".

They want NATO members like Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, and Trump has signaled that he'll let them have 'em. Trump also has deep financial ties with oligarchs tied to Putin.

If true,
Certainly it would be because they feel it would be in their best interest. No country would do otherwise.
Perhaps it is because they trust Hillary less than they trust Trump.

In context with last Donnie's baffling statements regarding NATO in the middle of the RNC, it appears that a deal was offered to both of them. Donnie took it and indicated his obsequence with his public statements that Putin could have Estonia if he wanted. Clinton didn't and got the document dump.

Good for Donnie.our inerests are more important to me than Estonia's.

Nice that the word of the United States is as good as a real-estate charletan who stiffs his vendors at every opportunity.

I think you've got it backward. If Putin "trusts" Trump and wants to see him elected, it is unlikely to be an altruistic desire.

The narrative "The Russians did this" is simply to throw readers off the trail and keep them from reading "what" is in the emails.
The boogy man could have been the one that hacked the server, who cares. What really matters here is what has been uncovered.

What we have uncovered is what we all knew: American politics is a nasty game with a façade that masks a seedy underbelly of money, power, favors, and crooks and liars. It's pretty gross, actually.

why are we accepting this?
Why can't we demand and get real leaders instead of trash like the corrupt doormat and her buttkisser-wannabes?

By "butkisser-wannabes" you're referring to her donor, Donnie, right?

In my opinion, our electoral system is no longer especially conducive to good outcomes. Money, power, the fact that a political position can become a career, and the two-party system, have a hand in the issues, I think.

I think who conducted the attack and why is important. I think it's equally important what was contained within the messages.

Because populism has trumped ethics and standards of behavior over the last several elections, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

The Founders were wise enough for We, the People, to take the power back from a tyrannical Federal government. All it takes is courage and commitment to change things, which is something in frightfully short supply.

I'm SHOCKED!!!
NOW we have an email scandal that the FBI director has some professional interest in investigating????
The only question on his mind is who outed the crimes of the DNC and how can they be criminalized.

But would a reasonable prosecutor be moved to bring charges?

Unfortunately the DNC is pretty much a private party and can dow whatever they please. But if they really want legitamacy they should have a great deal more transparency in the nomination process. Unsurprising that the Clinton campaign should participate in such shenanigans. But certainly disheartening.
