Title: VP debate
Post by: Little Joe on October 05, 2016, 05:10:10 AM
I watched about 10 minutes of it.  I realized that rather than answering the questions, they were merely struggling to squeeze in rehearsed zingers, and ticking off their talking points that everyone has heard many, many times already.

But at least Pence didn't look quite like the bum that Kaine did like so I think Pence won.

Apparently the Republicans do have an adult in the race.  Pense did well, even having the next to impossible task of defending some of the Donald’s public comments.  The first 20-30 minutes were a waste with all the cross talk, couldn’t understand what anyone was saying.  One after-debate pundit said that the winner was Pense and the loser was Ted Cruz..  Had to think about that a bit, but if Pense is doing this for the exposure and a look toward 2020, it does make sense.  Thought the last 20 minutes were very good with some sincere, honest answers, whether you agreed with their position or not, they both did a good job of stating them.  In the end, don’t think it will change much.

I didn't watch it as I knew the moderators would be biased against Pence.  I've seen some clips.  Kaine is a freaking loon.  God help us.

It was interesting to watch the moderator try and help Kaine out.  As soon as Pence started to mention the email server, the moderator jumped right in to stop him and say it was time to move on.

Surprised?

The members of the committee that puts on the debates are all donors to the Hillary campaign.  They pick the moderators and they choose the subjects that will be discussed.

If the republicans came up with a committee to develop and broadcast a debate, and that committee was made up of Trump donors, and they hand picked conservative moderators the liberals would be screaming.  And the DNC would refuse to participate.

How about a debate without a studio audience, just the two candidates and a moderator that is unbiased?  And the questions and subjects won't be revealed until the debate.

Better yet, let's have a debate and let Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Andrew Wilkow be the moderators.  Talk about some entertaining television!

I noticed that as well.  What an obvious tool for the DNC. The moderator was pathetic. I yelled "shut the fuck up" way too many times for my blood pressure.

Best case scenario for November remains:

269-269 tie in EC
House deadlocks (neither can get 26 states) choosing POTUS
Senate selects Pease as VP
Pease becomes "Acting POTUS" on Jan 20 and stays that way until 2020

Nope,  no other candidates allowed.

If there's a 269-269 split, the House, voting by states (i.e. Each state delegation gets a single vote) chooses between Hillary and Donnie, the winner must receive 26 votes.  This is problematic in that states with an even number of members must cast a null ballot if they cannot reach a majority.

The Senate must choose between Pense and Kaine, no new candidates permitted.  The Senate votes normally.

nitpick:  you are presuming that only Pense, Kaine, the donald, and the corrupt doormat receive any votes.

Actually, that was explicit in the 269-269 scenario.

That said, even if Johnson wins New Mexico or something, it doesn't make that much difference.  Weld will not be eligible in the Senate.  The House gets to pick from the Top 3 vote getters in the EC, but the Senate only gets to pick from the Top 2.  So, unless Johnson/Weld come in second in the EC, Weld will be ineligible for Senate selection.

The way Kaine kept interrupting Pence right from the start was one of the rudest, nastiest excuses for "debating" I have ever had the mispleasure of seeing. That guy is a piece of shit.

The media has dropped all pretense of being objective.

So, you've not watched the top of the Republican ticket, have you?
