Title: Undecided voters
Post by: Bob Noel on October 29, 2016, 12:48:35 PM
I'm just curious regarding undecided voters.

How many people are trying to decide between Trump and Clinton?

How many people are trying to decide other possibilities?

There's not much polling data on that because most pollsters don't ask questions which allow much room for undecided answers or third party candidate votes.

I'm undecided between Trump and someone other than Clinton. Voting for Trump to stop Clinton is a rational choice and one that makes sense. However nobody should be under any illusions that by voting for Trump they are in any way supporting the conservative movement.

What good is a conservative movement when it's been watered down to essentially a third party?   How many Libertarian's are in Congress that have gotten any meaningful legislation through?   That's where your conservative movement is heading.

If that's the case, and we're heading for a one party system regardless, then it won't matter who I vote for. Want to see a perfect example of that? Look at Venezuela.

That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

Putting Hillary in office moves us there very quickly.

There are very few fiscal conservatives left in the Republican Party, which is why it's not even worth my time supporting them anymore.  There is nothing conservative about them outside of their religious infatuation.

I don't think anyone is.

The conservative movement exists and will always exist. Any equivalence with the GOP is inaccurate.

What good is a Republican Party if they just nominate a liberal New York Democrat donor to Hillary Clinton?

No need to go as far as Venezuela.  We have it right here in California.  Both the state assembly and senate are strongly Democratic (possibly after this election there will be a Dem supermajority), and our current governor is a Democrat.  Our next governor is virtually guaranteed to be Democrat.   All political districts are heavily gerrymandered to make certain the Democrat stranglehold is maintained.

So the rest of the nation can look to California to see how quickly the Democrats can bankrupt the country.  I find it hard to believe that anyone can, at this point, be undecided about the upcoming Presidential election.

I guess DC isn't the only swamp that needs to be drained. :(

I lived in California previously.  Bay area.  The coast controls the entire state.  L.A., and San Fran.  The interior of CA is pretty conservative, and are down trodden my the coastal snowflakes.  It is sad.

Women have a useful name for men they date after a bad breakup and before finding the one they want to settle down with.

The "Transition Man" doesn't have to be perfect or even have many of the attributes we are looking for. His function is to get us over the past and ready for a hopefully better future.

Trump is Transition Man.

Pence 2020

Pence 2020

To me, that assumes that Hillary wins '16.  This isn't 1976 anymore.  I don't think we are still in a country where either party will tolerate a serious challenge to an incumbent president.  Particularly as a sitting VP, Pence would never challenge Trump in '20.

Presuming she wins '16, there is no way she 'loses' '20 -- she stops and will stop at nothing (legal, ethical or not) to maintain her hold on power.  She needs it too much -- Who's going to give Bill, Hillary or Chelsea anything much less millions in no-show jobs and $250k/hr. speaking fees once she can't influence policy anymore?  She'll pull out all he usual tricks: Her rallies are sparsely attended because the dead don't rise until Halloween -- at which point they all vote Democratic; Her opponent will be tarnished as Hitler incarnate (like each and every Republican was called before them); the media will once again prostitute themselves to the Democratic candidate.  And, this country will be four years further down the toilet towards a Venezuelan strong-man (woman) socialist dictatorship -- elections not withstanding.  She's already on record in favor or rigging elections (in Palestinian territory) -- why wouldn't she do the same here to ensure her own profit?

I cansee a potential scenario where Trump decides not to run again in 2020.

I think Trump is in for only one term, by his choice, especially if he can go out on a high note.

Men call them a "Throw away girl".  Someone you find physically attractive, but know you're not going to bring home to Mom.  Of course I would never do such a thing.

Sometimes we don't realize the person is Transition or Throw Away until we meet The One.

I will tell you that I'm no longer undecided.  I will cast a vote for Trump, but I am not voting for him.  I am voting to keep Hillary out of office and this is the only real way to do it.  I'm not holding my nose and voting, I have no affinity for Trump what so ever.  It's an unemotional vote to try to preserve the rule of law.

Me, too. But I am having a little emotion. The possibility of a world with no Clintons is pretty darn giddy-making.

I understand that argument. I'm very close to being in that position myself. I still have a few days, but I'm moving in that direction.
