Title: A message for 'Gimp and Lucifer
Post by: nddons on November 09, 2016, 09:21:06 AM
During the heat of the primary season, I was super critical of the both of you for bringing us a candidate that will crash and burn in the general election. I didn't think his angry followers could ever carry the day - I was sure that there were too few of you to matter.  Hell, us Tea Partiers got defeated not by the Left, but by our own political Establishment on the Right.

I was a Never Trumper. Right up to the point that Hillary got away with her crimes in the interest of political expediency and political corruption of the DOJ. That was my line in the sand.

As a lifelong Cubs fan, I'm not a fair-weather fan. I'm not a band-wagon jumper. I usually back the underdog, and get disgusted when the underdog is treated unfairly.  When Hillary called "you guys" deplorables, well, the that bitch called me a deplorable as well.

At some point I think I probably said that if I was wrong about Trump, I would apologize to you. Well, I was wrong, and you deplorable sumbitches were correct.

I still think Trump is a pig, but he's our pig now.  It's up to us to make sure he keeps his promises, and doesn't turn away from the messages that bought him a win.

Congratulations, and well done. I see some good things on the horizon for our country. I know I would never see those things if the results had been different this morning.

Agreed.

Give the man a chance, as I've said many times before I sat and watched in 1980 as the dems did the same thing to Reagan.   And Reagan turned out fine. ;D

I feel good about the direction the country has taken.  As Gerald Ford said "Our long national nightmare is over".

As I stated from day 1, my goal was to get rid of Obama and make sure Hillary was never elected.  I'm glad to see others felt the same way.

It's all good Stan.  Look toward the future.

No apology needed, this was an extremely unusual election, so much so that it seems literally everyone got it wrong in some fashion or another - I very honestly expected the results to be opposite what happened, and that it would be me crying in my Cheerios about the end of the American experiment, preparing to live in fear as my political ideology was criminalized.  Like others here I expect, I have had friends and even family unfriend me on FB and refuse to talk to me about politics in any way as this has played out - never thinking that when they retweet or repeat the Deplorables, Racist, Sexist, etc., charges that they are talking about me - eventually everyone is going to have to just let that baggage go, as hard as that can and will be.

Trump was never going to be a good candidate in any traditional mold, and what he has done, and his primary and lasting achievement IMO, regardless of what happens now, is that he has put the flame torch to the keep of the political-media establishment, and has if not permanently at least temporarily put the entire power structure on its' heels and I belieive, as I have maintained throughout this election, that THAT is what is most desperately needed for all Americans.

Trump's acceptance last night was far more humble and well-balanced than I expected or honestly wanted to see, and that is actually good - I do believe that the Clintons belong in jail, I do want to see Obama's Legacy take its rightful place as a smoking pile of wreckage on the ash heap of history where it belongs with every other failed socialist agenda, and I pray these come to pass.

Trump now has to deliver the goods, or at least make good on the attempt - I expect he will still be fighting not only a hostile media (probably will go over the top now since the reactions last night, as pricelessly delicious as they were demonstrate many simply do not understand us at all nor do they see the curtain has been pulled back thanks to Wikileaks and Oz has been exposed), he will continue to face a unified opposition minority party, but he will also be fighting the Republican establishment while they try to figure out if they can co-opt his popularity - in the end, his success, or failure, will be ours as a people.

While he has been very polarizing in this cycle, I expect President Trump to be different from Candidate Trump in that he has shown, repeatedly, that he does learn and adapt while remaining committed to the long game.  I believe his Long Game is compatible with the desires of a majority of the people since we really just want to live our lives with minimum interference - I recognize there are substantive and in some cases diametrically opposed points of view but those are held by those of us outside the middle on either side and both sides are going to have to deal with some disappointment but I remain optimistic, and that is the first time in a long time I have been able to say that with respect to our national government.

I still think Trump is a pig, but he's our pig now.  It's up to us to make sure he keeps his promises, and doesn't turn away from the messages that bought him a win.

Agree. I didn't vote for Trump in the primary.  But during the campaign, I received email from the Trump campaign asking me, personally, what my problems are and what I would like Trump to do to fix them. The email included space to write UNLIMITED CHARACTERS my suggestions and opinions. Then Trump issued the Contract with Voters and I saw that he listened and addressed my concerns. (Oh I know he didn't personally read them, but mine plus millions of others like me, he DID listen to.)

It remains to be seen if he actually does what he promises. I still have some problems with some of his proposed policy and position on some issues.

And he is still unlikeable, even a bit repulsive to me.  But here is the bottom line. He heard and responded when I said our retirement fund is not growing. He heard when I said several of my family members were laid off their jobs. He heard when I said I am crushed under too many regulations from a distant government who doesn't understand how my quality of life is eroded by their meddling.  He heard when I said our taxes are way too high. He heard me say several of my doctors have quit their practices and my health insurance premiums have gone up.

Trump heard all this, HILLARY DID NOT.

Trump is still a pig, but I am 60 years old and face my old age, during which I would like to be comfortable, have some cash to spend, have good doctors, and maybe even be able to leave something for my children.  I have a new grandbaby I do not want to leave a decayed corpse of a country to.  At this point I don't care if he is a pig and he grabs women's pussies.  I am going to be selfish FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE.  I voted my wallet and my future and the future of my children and grandchildren because if Hillary won, things would only continue to get worse. That much was crystal clear.

Will Trump keep his promises to me?  Will he fix this country?  I have no idea.  But at least he asked me about my pain, and responded to what I said.

I hope the Republican party elite is hearing the message too:  We suffering middle class, working class and poor are SICK of you political elite.  My eyes were open in the last two months of this campaign. I was with you up to and past the primary, but some of you in your lack of support for Trump to defeat Hillary showed your true colors, and this spoke loud and clear: You too are disconnected from the suffering of me and the rest of "everyday Americans".   Screw you, along with the whole Democrat party.

NONE of the other Rep hopefuls stood a chance of breaking through the Obama-Clinton Reality Distortion Field. For all his flaws, TRUMP knew what he had to do to win.

                                                           Gettin' the Mule's Attention

Adapted by Dr. Mike Lockett, The Normal Storyteller

A long time ago a farmer wanted to buy a mule from his neighbor.  He asked the neighbor if the mule had any problems.

"Not a problem," the neighbor said.  "This mule will do anything you ask.  All you have to do is ask him nicely."  The neighbor added, "Just make sure you never mistreat my mule."

The price for the mule was fair, so the farmer bought the mule.  The very next day the farmer wanted to plow his field.  He hitched the mule to the plow.  The mule had no intention of pulling that plow!

The farmer said, "Git up!"  But the mule paid no attention.  The farmer tried talking nicely until his face almost turned blue.  It did no good.  So, he called his neighbor over.

The neighbor came right away.  When he heard the problem, he walked over and picked up a two-by-four.  He hit the mule right in the head.  Then he whispered in the mule's ear.  That mulee started plowing back and forth the field, turning the soil over without anyone standing behind the plow.

"I thought you said never to mistreat your mulee," stated the farmer.  "You said all that I had to do was to talk nicely to him."

"Well," answered the neighbor.  "You just have to get his attention first before talking to him."
