For those that have read Tom Clancy's "Executive Orders", are the liberals criticism of Presdient-Elect Trump's cabinet choices reminding you of stuff from "Executive Orders"?

Lots of hand wringing about people without experience selected to run a large bureaucracy (the character President Ryan selected people who knew how to do actual work)
-
I had put Clancy out of mind and not thought of him in at least a decade.
Thanks for nothing...

WTF?

WTF?
Don't Have a good opinion of him these days. He started out writing some good stuff but somewhere he took a bad turn and got really full of himself.

You do know that he died a few years ago don't you? Much of his later work was actually a collaboration with other authors. That was when I noticed the quality and substance of his novels going down. But when he was in his prime, he was prescient.

Sure, he passed away a while ago, I suppose I phrased that a little funny. What he did when he started was ok. But then he got really full of himself and fancied himself an expert on things that he had no experience with.

I read "Red Storm Rising", "The Hunt for Red October" and "Sum of All Fears" and enjoyed them. That was it for my Clancy reading, and I agree that he did get a little weird with success. Prior to his being an "expert" in all things military, and intelligence, I think he was an insurance salesman.

Loved "The Hunt for Red October" - thought it was his best. "Red Storm Rising" and "Sum of ALL fears" weren't bad.....

I've read most of his original Jack Ryan/John Clark series. Great books.

Trump is channeling someone, but it doesn't seem like Clancy.
“You know, I'm, like, a smart person. I don't have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years. Could be eight years — but eight years. I don't need that,” Trump said. “But I do say, ‘If something should change, let us know.’”
[Edit] That's Trump, on how he doesn't need a daily intelligence briefing.

Well, Hillary doesn't need an intelligence briefing. That's for sure. lol!
-
So was it all just fake news that O skipped intel briefings often?

Perhaps she is still getting the briefings. What with the recount and the electoral vote still pending! ::)

Does she get them by email?

Yes, but the more interesting part is that Trump feels compelled to tell us all that he's smart.

So what's the problem with that?
Do you think the MSM is going to report that?

Yes, but the more interesting part is that Trump feels compelled to tell us all that he's smart.
And the fake news liberal media are sucking all the oxygen out of the room calling him stupid.
I'd rather have him in charge than the traitor Obama.

So has Obama gotten a daily intelligence briefing for the last eight years? No. The Associated Press and Comedy Central may have forgotten, but in the middle of his administration, Obama was criticized for generally forgoing a daily intelligence briefing. The Washington Free Beacon headlined: “Obama Skipped 62.5 Percent of Intelligence Briefings this Year,” based on a report by the Government Accountability Institute.
It takes a lot of nerve for President Obama to go on Comedy Central to attack Donald Trump for proposing to do the same thing that Obama did himself. But then, chutzpah has always been one of Obama’s defining characteristics.

The funny thing about progressives is that they give themselves a pass for hypocrisy AND demand that everyone else do so or risk being called racist. Hypcrisy really is the only family value of the progressive left.
