To those of you that defend the Patriots,
Defend this:
http://www.si.com/nfl/2017/02/09/patriots-white-house-donald-trump-players-not-going-reasons
-
Why?
-
Why?
Why not?
If you don't want to defend them, then criticize them.
Why? Because that's what we do here on PS.
Of course though, I realize that if they had refused to go see Obama, I would have cheered them on.
-
Apparently a number of Patriots didn't go in 2015 either (I think HIghtower wasn't there).
-
If they are fasco-communists like most Democrats, I'd rather not have them sully the now renewed pride of the White House, and our President. The Social Justice Warriors, and Black Lives Matter crowd can go to HELL. ALL LIVES MATTER.
-
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Go or don't go, I could give a RA either way.

I don't really care either. I just like to bitch about the Patriots and liberals.
-
Who the fuck cares. ::)

Well, given that the New England Patriots just won their 5th Superbowl (2nd in the last 3 years), I imagine you'll have lots of opportunity to bitch about the Patriots when people talk about the records set by Kraft/Belichick/Brady dynasty.
-
The NFL has become something of a joke in our house and this little impotent protest is just another straw among many.
Goodell can take his failed leadership and stuff it for all I care.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I'm indifferent on this one.

As far as I'm concerned, Brady and Belichick will have asterisks next to their names due to their controversies.

What do you think they did?
-
Sorry Joe, don't really care. These guys basically had no days off since before September, not sure if I would go either if I had something else going on. Brady didn't go in 2015 when Obama was in, didn't hear much about it then. Martellus Bennett said he is not going because he doesn't like Trump. Not sure Marty will be back next year. At the end of the day I don't think anyone really cares, I certainly don't.
-
What do you think they did?
There was "Spy Gate" and "Deflate Gate", just to name two instances. Belichick walked off the field with time still on the clock the first time they played the Giants in the Super Bowl, showing how unsportsmanlike he is. There's no denying they're a good team and Brady is an excellent quarterback and Belichick an excellent coach, but I don't like them. Regardless if they actually cheated or whether or not you think it was a big deal, they're the ones surrounded in controversy, not other teams.

In other words, If the Patriots do it, then it is just fine.

I believe that should be eight, as Aaron Hernandez won't be attending this year...
...or any other year for at least the next two-hundred.

This happens every year. The only reason you are hearing about it now is because the president's last name is Trump, not Clinton. Trust me, if she had won, you would have never heard a peep.
It isn't news, it is propaganda.

"spy gate"? do you realize that taping opponents is within the rules. The alledged violation was for taping from the wrong spot. Also, goodell is quoted as saying that the NFL destroyed the tapes because they couldn't determine if the tapes were made within the rules or not.
"deflate gate"? PV=nRT. There is no actual evidence that the anyone deflated the footballs. BTW - take a football, inflate it to 12 psi in a locker room at 70 deg. Have it outside at 40 to 45 degrees for a couple of hours, the measure the footballs. Brady's suspension was upheld by the courts because under the terms of the CBA roger a-hole goodell can do anything he wants for any reason, not because there was any evidence of deflating the footballs.

Are you a liberal?
I don't know about you, but I'll go with facts, not allegations.

I do too. And they fact is, once you actively cheat once, every time you win something there will be a question about whether you cheated again. The Patriots could win 20 SuperBowls and people wpould still be saying "yeah, so what did they not get caught at cheating this time?"

But. but Bill Nye the science guy said....... that guy is such a fucking fraud.
I was at that game, it was about 40 degrees, with a freezing cold heavy rain. It was cold and those balls definitely lost pressure due to the cold. Add to the fact that they had 2 gauges that read differently and the accuracy of those gauges even when working properly was probably +/- 1 lb psi and anyone with a brain would have dropped this. The ironic part is that Brady was part of having this pressure rule instituted, he should have anticipated this when they were developing the rule. I guess he didn't pay attention in his science classes.

You're trying to change my opinion, and it's not going to work. I don't like the Patriots for a multitude of reasons and the ones I listed are a few. That doesn't mean they aren't a good football team. It also doesn't mean that I have to like them.

It is my sincere hope that you have even more reason to dislike them at the end of next season when they go back to back.
-
You're trying to change my opinion ...
The other players can stay home, they’re perfectly within their rights.
But the White House visit is to recognize the achievements of the team, not to endorse or honor President Donald Trump.
Not everything has to be a political tussle.
Sometimes you can just come together and enjoy.
-
My biggest problem with Brady is that he plays for, and is loyal to Belichick.

Had to fix that for you.

If you are going to fix it, do it right. You left out the words lying, cheating and batard.
